I actually like that they didn’t give him exactly the idealized body he had in his fantasies, but something more realistic and achievable. He wasn’t going to turn into a chiseled god among dragons, but he came pretty close, and I’m sure Spike is happy with the results.
i don’t know if this is just some really subtle continuity or if DHX gave spike this body without thinking much about it, but i can appreciate it either way. i can appreciate the fandom making theories like this too, there always fun to think about.
I find super weird that in this very same thread there are people saying “yeah, maybe he’ll get to look like his dream version in the future”, and then he does.
Internet time capsules are wild.
That was a good one haha
I think it’s not only about lazy writing but also about more critical critics.
They’re called story arcs.
comments like that is why the writers will get lazy and give us worse episodes then we should get.
MLP has always had a high standard of good writing, but these newer seasons have started to throw that out the window.
They gotten so lazy with it too, the past season had the same villain in the beginning, and the ending, but somehow never showed up between
watch the S5 opener then watch the S5 ending, there could potentially be “no” time difference.
I got a good laugh out of that potentially unintentional continuity nod.
You’re right! Whoops. Surprised I forgot that. That’s an obvious one.
It’s only for this particular scene as well, since once he stops posing he comes back to his regular model.
Kinda wish they were some more subtle changes like the one Twi had (not accounting the wings since that one wasn’t subtle at all) but alas…. Budgets and whatnot.
Actually, maybe there were and I’m just blind, do you guys know of any?
Tanks for the Memories cannot be in season 4 since Twilight’s castle is present in it.
May the Best Pet Win could be in S3 tho, since the first three seasons are the ones that can be arranged however one wants, once Twi gets wings the continuity in the show kinda has to keep up with the events that happened before.
I don’t care, I’m having fun.
All right:
Unfortunately, we’re putting way, way more thought into this than the writers do.

It’s not said on the S4 opener, but it kind of adds up with other episodes like Tanks for the Memories (telling us this is the first time Tank had to hibernate and Dash has been with him since S2) and the fact that the show really didn’t made an effort for episodes to be in order until S4 started its whole key arc.
Otherwise it’d be implying that the entirety of S3 and 4 happens after Tanks from the memories which can’t be true since Twilight is a Princess (past S3) and the toy Castle is there in the episode (past S4).
I guess you could argue that there is no need for a winter every year (but you wouldn’t have Hearts Warming Day without it D:)

The S4 premiere NEVER outright said that it had only been a year since season 1. All Celestia said was that the Summer Sun Celebration was now a celebration of reuniting with her sister. She didn’t even say that it was the first Summer Sun Celebration since Luna’s return.
BB squats, pullups, BB benches, BB rows, deadlifts, and BB shoulder press. That’s really all you need.Throw some crunches in every now and then and you are good.
Which is why I think one year sounds completely stupid and unrealistic. 4-5 years? Sure, I’ll go with it. But one year? One?
I have no idea what the hell the show’s writing team has been smoking, but I’d like to get my hands on it.
If the ponies have had to save the world let’s see, 1, 2, 3, 4… 5 times in a single year, Equestria must be more of a shithole than even I thought it was.

Does show have to make sense? Just look at Simpsons.
That’s something me and Kirb could never understand: how could only one year have passed since S1 if the show’s been going on for five years? It honestly makes no sense the more you think about it.
