As far as I’m concerned, everybody takes politics way too seriously.
 
Government is a good thing. The ability to form civilizations is what separates us from the other animals.
 
But politics and bureaucracy has done very little good overall.

Politics is a serious thing to pretty much anyone that’s lived long enough to be affected by it. The decisions and ideology of our leaders affects everyone, and we many times fear decisions that cause us great harm in the short and long term. This is why we debate politics, and this is why we get angry at people about politics.
 
We don’t agree on how to run the world as a species, and many of us share views that are polar opposites to each other. We fear any idea that puts us at a disadvantage, especially if that disadvantage result in our harm or death.
 
Unfortunately, people are taking sides instead of discussing a compromise because people are driven by sensationalist media that often uses wording and bias to create fear and demonize an opposing side. It’s furthering a divide and making any political discussion toxic to those that wish to not engage in political discussion at all. Common sense is becoming less common in the face of radicalism, and everyone is scared for the future where only one group of people will prosper at the expense of everyone else.
 
This is a bit of rambling, but it’s my response to your last line. Basically, any time you challenge the core ideas of another person, they may not respond pleasantly, especially when they fully believe what they believe is the truth.

Only if inordinately incensed people refuse to yield to common sense and just stick around in a conversation they clearly don’t want to be a part of even if nothing’s keeping them from simply doing something else with their time. But I’m sure we have nobody like that in this thread at all and we’re all just having a great time, because it literally only takes a click to remove unwanted notifications of a conversation that annoys you and there’s absolutely no reason not to do it other than your own stubbornness. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
