I like to think that Discord’s brief reign screwed up time to the point that it caused everything from anomalies to hilarious side-universes to ponies experiencing time non-linearly.

But how much worse is worse? If anything, the childishness we DID see would be far worse to me, because I already would have beaten Pinkie’s brains in for that.

  1. The show had more time to show it
     
  2. The Mane 6 didn’t beat him in time.

That’s what I always though. Beneath that happy go-lucky facade is a ruthless, cunning monster that lives to destroy and inflict pain and anguish for the sake of his own amusement. He has no morals: He is willing to do whatever it takes to get a good laugh. Whatever it takes.
 
If you believe he’s just a clever, goofy prankster that does what he does simply because it’s in his nature to do so, you’ve lost.

Pretty sure the glass window shows us Discord is a real threat. We just never saw got there in the current story because he got beat before he could do anything like that.

Discord probably isn’t a murderer. But he’s not much better. He’s an unabashed sadist, and enjoys inflicting great deals of pain and mental anguish for his amusement. He’s very much a bastard.
