Too bad the franchise didn’t reach Star Trek level and instead got acquired by EA.  
Now, I don’t know the details so it could just as easily be Bioware’s own fault, but the fact remains the first game spawned something that took the world by a storm, while the latter two games simply steered it off to an action flick. Enjoyable, but non-lasting in the grand scheme of things like most of its kind.
 
It makes me wonder what are people behind Mass Effect actually working on nowadays, since they must have been pretty massive Sci-fi enthusiasts but the only project of pre-EA Bioware people I could think of is Banner Saga which is obviously not anywhere near sci-fi.

Can’t believe it’s been four years since the last game…
