To be fair, I don’t even remember what the premiere was about - and that’s saying a lot.
Actually the whole season felt a lot like fanfiction. There was a lot of mediocrity, few bad episodes and one gem.
Actually, my favourite episode was the one with alternative timeline and that’s never good.
Even the ending, though it wrapped up most of plots, felt bad. It was epic and the threat was resolved in last seconds, but landing Atlantis in San Francisco? ZPM modules from parallel dimensions?
I was 19 when it came out and even then I found it ridiculous.
Sg:U tried to make series fresh, but leaned too much on BSG. Unfortunately Sci-Fi realized that when they were in the middle of second season of already cancelled show…
@AllHailPrincessLuna
Was it just me, though? I felt that the drop in writing quality in “Search and Rescue” was unbelievably steep. Every character’s dialogue was written intelligently and with that character’s unique personality in mind - up to that point. Had a drinking game started where a shot was taken everytime someone stated the obvious for exposition purposes, I would have passed out in ten minutes. Even Michael, who started out as a very interesting rogue nemesis of the Atlantis team, started speaking like a stereotypical cartoon villain of the week. Sam’s replacement felt sloppy, Ronon was little more than a bobblehead doll, Rodney was unscientific, Col. Caldwell was even more wooden than usual, and Dr.Keller sounded as though she had barely received a lesson in first aid.
Did they let a fanfic author write the dialogue for this episode? I lost count of how many bland, cheesy, cookie cutter four or five word long sentences the actors rattled off.
After four solid seasons of surpassing my expectations with entertaining and engaging personalities combined with exciting storytelling, I found this whole episode to be highly offensive and if someone on the show staff could give the script for Search and Rescue a green light, they must have lowered their standards and stopped caring. So I stopped caring, too. I’m 44. I’ve never ragequit a show in my life until now. I’ll admit that those episode premises you mention sound fun but I would have preferred to have seen them in an earlier season when there was still some semblance of quality control.
Then you missed pseudo-CSI, alternative timeline episode in which Sheppard is a failed cop living in a trailer in LV, mostly drinking and listening to Johny Cash. As stupid as it sounds, I enjoyed it.
And rogue Asgards in Power Armours, that too was a thing
Celestia: “Which was?”
*Sunset: ”‘Ponies?? No… Just… no… If anyone asks, we found nothing! Lets get back to Destiny… I’d prefer being lost in space…’”
Yes. Justice League Heroes cutscenes come to mind.
If Celestia can predict solar flares with accuracy, that gate is a gold mine.
That said, it’s a wonder they found complete DHD - these things are rare!
judging by how she has the same glasses and hairstyle as eqg twilight, I’m going to say yes.
