Emerald peaks through the door.
 
It seems to lead to a bridge between the main castle building and the east tower. The bridge is open to the elements, and Emerald can see that he could climb over the side of the bridge if he’d like to, though he isn’t sure if that would help him get down. Emerald also knows that behind the door on the other side of the bridge there is usually a guard standing on watch.
 
Emerald tries to think how much time has passed since he left his room. If he had to guess, it’s probably been about 15-20 minutes. Emerald isn’t sure how much time it would have taken for his stepmom to get his stepfather, but they are almost certainly back at the room, or close.
 
He’s pretty sure he needs to find a way out real soon.
