Emerald feels around the metal, momentarily stopping to get some soot out of his eyes. It appears to be conical shape, whatever it is, and on closer inspection he can feel air coming from it.
 
Emerald rather frantically pushes and kicks the metal plate, and as he does he can slowly but surely feel it start to loosen, and with one final kick manages to make the thing topple off.
 
His eyes are met by blinding sunlight, and as he readjusts he hauls himself up and looks around. He appears to be on the roof of the castle. Emerald knows that his room is somewhere in the northeast side of the castle, but not entirely sure where. Even less sure is how he is going to get down from here, as it’s far too high to climb or jump down.
