Althought it could make a perfect scenario based on that horrible comic:  
THe Humane 5 basically vanish poor Sunset over a bunch of lies, and Starlight comes with her promise of a better life. Then the girls realize what they just did (or find the harsh truth that the CMC just incriminated Sunset, and they basically told her they weren’t friends anymore), and fear that it might be too late for amend their mistake… Perhaps a little bit too late…  
(Make of that what you will, either a Jonestown scenario, or Sunset recreating what’s happening in my Avatar pic).
