And regardless of quality and how it managed to get popular, it’s still one of the earliest surviving fanfics of the fandom.

not at all really. its existence is reliant on that one episode.
and the episode pretty much shows that pinkie pie couldn’t do this stuff oddly enough. her madness comes from loneliness and depression, not out of a desire to harm.
so the only significance of cupcakes is mass misunderstanding and coincidence.
Past sins is historical. Fallout equestria is historical. cupcakes is a fad that should have been forgotten.
