Cadance was a pegasus before princesshood.
Can we assume that most pegasi are sloppy sleepers?
And so, due to Cadence’s alicorn durability was able to give birth to her 1st born while thier 2nd kid was still developing.

Shining: …We are going to have more kids. Isn’t that great, honey.

Apparently Cadence has the womb of a rabbit, the ability to have a baby while having one already.
Actually, rabbits give birth while getting ready to give birth to another batch of rabbits, but you get the joke hopefully.

Shining: You’re not fat. You’re just as beautiful as I first saw you.

I can relate to this though. My missus doesn’t take up most of the bed, but she certainly has a bad habit of nicking all the covers!
She’s tried to deny it, but I took a photo on my phone one night when I went up to bed so I could prove it. All the covers were on her side of the bed, leaving me with a bare mattress, (with base sheet).
