pretty much cause I think they’d just clutter up her design! I’m not following canon super-close so it’s 99% a ‘what looks best’ thing – Candy has ‘em cause her power source is on her back, and it needed something around it to look less slapped-on, plus it tied in the purple of her color scheme. she didn’t have them in an earlier design (that first picture FanOfMostEverything linked), when the heart was on her sternum like the mane 6 bots. :B
 
it’s something I haven’t really been thinking about, so I’ll try to be more consistent! expect an influx of wingless pegasi I guess? (ftr Nightmare Moon and Luna’s current designs don’t have wings, though I’m still messing around with them so that might change. Chrysalis…sort of does? hers are weird idk)

True, but the wonderbolts arent automatons, just augmented, so thats not needed. I was just wondering why one alicorn has wings, and the other we’ve seen doesnt

Celestia’s augments are much more subtle, with usually only her feet visible. Cadance is a full blown automaton.

“You send my passion subroutines into overdrive!”

They might not be flight-capable wings. They could be receiver antennae for a moon-based microwave emitter, or suchlike.

The Wonderbolts would probably have a specific role that requires those augments, while Celestia doesn’t really.

Well, Cadance’s existence was mentioned previously in this comic >>913508 and her true name is the “Locational Optimization Volt Engine.” Since Shining Armor is in charge of guarding it/her, I’d imagine the L.O.V.E. is fairly important to the continued function of the Crystal Empire.

Hold on! Cadence has wings, the pegasi have wings even the wonderbolts have implanted wings but (not-alicorn) Celestia doesnt? What’s going on?

welp, we got finally robo-cadance, which brings the question: what will be her main function? Prostethic niece for celestia would be something crude, even if she built her just from her loneliness.
