But I want to remark on what you replied to. The person is saying something that is fictional is “sick” because we are supposed to view it in some manner unrealistic. To which I can only reply: It’s fiction, in a fictional context, only sensible in that fictional context. You only find it sick by pretending it has some real world analogy, which it doesn’t, and is therefore in error. Trying to say apple is like orange.

Sure enough, Chrysalis’ suggestion here isn’t to be accepted as it is. And I am fairly sure that it’s not even meant to be seen as a good idea by the author looking at how the whole thing goes. But this is what negotiations are for.

Honestly that we’re meant to think Chrysalis here is the ‘good guy’ is just sick. If I lived in a country where one day my leader said ‘right from now on those guys who tried to capture and enslave us to use as food are going to have carte blanche to, at any time, replace your wife, husband, son, daughter, mother and father with themselves and absorb the consenting love you give those people for themselves’ I know how I, and virtually everyone ever would react. Its a ridiculous demand to make, it completely overrides the free will of the ponies by requiring that they be forced to accept that at any point the person they think is they’re loved one, friend, family or child could actually just be a stranger purposefully pretending to be so for their own benefit. This isn’t even delving into the Enormous potential for abuse such carte blanche and anonymity would give the Changelings. Honestly its as if all that matters is making Chrysalis look good even though she’s canonically admitted to enjoying being evil and caused the collapse of numerous societies.

I think the problem is not that they feed from ponies but that they replace ponies. I the Changelings are careful, the victim may only fell minor effects, but the person replaced must somehow get out of the picture first.
