Description
Pinkie says she’s related as a “fourth cousin twice removed by a fifth cousin,” and this is how it’d look when the blood relations are mapped out. That means Pinkie and AJ were never related by blood, but by marriage.
Well, looks like nothing can stop MarbleMac now.

They do not have any blood connections, my people
They do not have any blood connections.
so please, my people, no bullshit, respect the taste of people
be it character, shipp etc, just respect everyone, this makes fandom a better place
Ah, about that…
Except Sugar Belle.
Direct ancestry. They’re related, but they share no one that made babies who made babies etc who made them.
… except for when the Sugar Belle tolls.
I ignored that “by a fifth cousin” part. In another scene, Pinkie omits it
No, it isn’t just honorary. An aunt shares the same grandparent as you. Your grandparents are your aunt’s parents. Therefore there is a blood connection between big mac and marble pie
Even if that is true, what ancestry they share is basically just honorary because they’d STILL not share any actual direct ancestry because Applesauce is still an aunt, not a parent.
(And I still think the proper solution to this would have been to join the families via Mac and Marble. Like what Bright Mac and Pear Butter did.)
Thing is, the meaning of “by” in “4th cousin twice removed by a 5th cousin” is unclear.
The author of this chart seems to have interpreted “by” as “married to”, though I don’t quite see where the 5th cousin fits in here…
Personally, I’d say “4th cousin twice removed by a 5th cousin” is just Pinkie being Pinkie rather than an accurate description, but this is the Internet and we have to obsessively over-analyze children’s cartoons here.
AJ’s great-grand-aunt’s spouse’s fourth cousin twice removed.
Like she said, “Fourth cousin twice removed, by a fifth cousin.”
Thanking the creator of the tree would also be a valid option.
