Definitely not. “from the early days” isn’t a complete description. IMO, “artifact” is about the memes, reaction images, and art people were almost certainly going to see as their introduction to the fandom (due to being posted elsewhere by fans, as user avatars, etc.) or in circulation within the fandom (due to there simply not having been such a huge pool of creations as there has come to be).

I agree. This is about stuff that was culturally important for the fandom. I would be pretty liberal with the cutoff time, while using impactfulness as the main criterion.

“Early Days” sound for me more like 1985s Generation 1, the first 6 Ponys.

It would be nice to have some sort of “this was important for fans in G1-G3” tag, I suspect that most of the people who would be adding tags like that are the sort who imagine that The Fandom™ began the day they personally joined it, and nevermind that The Activity Club started in the UK in 1986 and the first full-on Pony convention was in 2004.

Is cutie mark on anthro a tag that needs to exist? cutie mark on human exists due to humans not normally having cutie marks, and therefore noteworthy when it’s depicted, but for anthros I don’t think it’s of any concern even if “factually correct” (just like we have “blank flank” and “missing cutie mark” but not “cutie mark on pony”)

I’ve only recently noticed the my little pony: friendship is magic tag seems to be a separate thing now, complete with the implications set for all episodes.

I don’t normally see an issue with this, but seeing that g4 seemingly has more than 100,000 FiM screencap images uploaded, and search results for the my little pony: friendship is magic tag currently has a mere 18 screencap images…

Maybe because Anthros not always have a Cutiemark.
It’s normal for most Ponys, except Blank Flanks, but some Anthros not have an CM.
Something I find more strange is the Way so many Artists display Anthros or Ponys.
I like to call Stuff like Eqamrd do it as Bodypaint Problem, because they not give Ponys Fur but instead they are furless with colored Skin.
Sure it’s faster to made, but it look somehow like a real Sphynx Cat.

I stumbled across the tag oc:ponysona, which I imagine is for assorted ponysonas. It just feels like kind of an odd tag, since “ponysona” is where an OC’s name would usually go, but I can’t imagine they’re all actually named Ponysona. Could be aliased into the much more used ponysona?

Went through the tag to tag proper names when appropriate, and while the tag didn’t apply most of the time, there is at least one pony whose name is literally “Ponysona”.

What is G4 and not FiM? Equestria Girls, the comics, the novels..?

For the sake of not having such a big tag taking up space in the tag section of a great many posts, should the tag be “MLP: FiM” instead of “my little pony: friendship is magic”? For comparison, the generation tag is “g4”, not “generation 4 of My Little Pony”.

There is a great amount of G4 content that is not FiM, some of the things you list among them, yes.
Every animated series almost exclusively just implies episodes/specials (as opposed to say, the merchandise or literature, even when it shares the branding), so it’d be the same for this.

Why does grey skies imply both g4 and g4.5? Shouldn’t it only imply the latter, since the character only appears in G4.5?

I always Wonder why the “everypony is Pinkie or use drugs”-Cartoon Pony Life is called 4.5 and not Equestria Girls.
PL was premiered on 7. November 2020, 7 Years after EQG, where the Movie came out on 3. August 2013.
Usual I had EQG as 4.5 and PL as 4.7 (similar to G3, G3.5 and G3.7 where the last is the failed “Newborn Cuties”)
but now EQG is 4.3 and PL 4.5 in my Collection.

Is “3d” an applicable tag on AI generated images that resemble 3d CGI? Some people have been using it that way, and I can imagine good points both for and against it.

3D is everything what are rendered, not all 3D Art are made with AI, some use Blender or SFM.

That is the opposite of what I’m asking about.

Well I would use 3D if the Image is 3d, if it look drawn then its not 3D.

No. Some rendered images are 2d. For example textures on a flat mesh.

A lot does depend on the model that’s used (assuming such) and intent of the artist. But it is kind of like a media tag, like “watercolor”, which may refer to the actual media, but also may be the “effect”.

Sure, I meant some who have a visible Depth, like if you made a Picture of a Doll.
If you have an 2d char like the first CGI ever made its still 2D.

I’d argue a tag for like faux 3d would be better, but I don’t know if that would work.
