IIRC the “you throw a ball to catch thibgs” patent was only made AFTER Palworld came out, so that just makes Nintendo/TPC come across as incredibly petty

I think that’s one of the big differences between Nintendo and TPC. Nintendo usually makes one or two mainline Mario 3D game per console generation, (not counting RPGs, spinoffs, and remakes) and they take their time with those.
TPC should focus more on taking time, we don’t need a new Pokemon every year.

Though, granted other monster training games had similar things, and TPC & GF never sued them over it. Nintendo even allowed other Pokemon style games on their platforms even on Gameboy Color I remember.

I kinda hope the PalWorld situation gets worked out, as admittedly it is making Pokemon look bad… (And I say this as someone who prefers Pokemon.)

Last year we had no mainline releases for Pokemon. The last time we had that was 2015, unless you count Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon.

Which is made worse by them deciding to scrap so many assets with each one, and then pulling the two games per gen shit that makes even the worst of EA’s season passes look so fucking tame, and in more recent gens power creeping the base game with the dlcs,

I honestly was never bothered by the two game version system of Pokemon, as you’re only required to get one version, and you can trade with other users to get the Pokemon not in your version.

That’s honestly the whole point to the two versions, to encourage player interactivity, not to “force players to buy both.” (I don’t know many who buy both frankly.) So honestly it’s nothing like EA’s gambling microtransaction scams, and such

I mean, us without close friends have to buy both. It’s just there to sell double the games to people who want all the mons or just mons that aren’t in the same game, like my original X/Y playthrough.

I don’t see anything wrong with trading, honestly, and frankly you don’t need to “catch them all” to enjoy the games anyway. I haven’t caught them all for any Pokemon game honestly.

I don’t think making two games is the issue. They’re literally the same game, they just make one game, and cut it in two with each version getting slightly different pokemon. No, the two game isn’t the cause for the last few games being shit, it’s the fact that they were being pumped out at a fast rate.

Yeah, remember Sonic used to suffer from that during the 2000s, and 2010s.

Haven’t experienced one bad glitch in Sonic X Shadow Generations though.

Neither have I, but I like using different teams and having to be careful to not lock myself into a mon late into the game if it’s version exclusive is not fun. Again, there is no good excuse to split them up. If duel copies didn’t sell more because some people want to collect them all, they wouldn’t still be doing it. And what about in ten years when the online support is gone? How are you going to take with others than?

Arguably in 10 years not many will be playing the game, and if you feel compelled to buy two games to get them all (which isn’t required to finish the game) that’s more on you then The Pokemon Company. They didn’t hold a broomstick to your head, and force you to buy both copies.

And Pokemon isn’t the only series that did that, heck they’re splitting the Final Fantasy 7 remake into several games, and these are actually different games unlike Pokemon.

TBF they massively expanded on FF7.

The first remake took the first 6~ hours of the original and stretched it into a 40-60 hour game.

Still, while kinda cool, it seems like they’re kinda dragging it out. Hate to sound like a purist, but I’d almost rather they just make remake it more like the original game story, but improve some features, like the Super Mario RPG remake.

People still play Red and Blue. People are still playing the games despite the lost of online trading. Making it convenient for the player to get every mon shouldn’t be an argument.

Yeah but it turns out the “remake” is actually a kind of psuedo-sequel. So changes had to be made.

And also yeah, the second game in the trilogy kinda floundered on the pacing. The first one covered like the first third of Disc 1’s plot, while the second game covered the remaining 2/3. Sure ending at the Temple of the Ancients is of course an obvious thing, it does mean the third game now has to cover the entirety of Disc 2 and what little Disc 3 has to offer.

Is Terra related to any of the Espers the cast of FFVI encounter on their adventure? Are any of them her cousins or half-siblings or something?

Nothing confirmed. Maybe she might have some weird sper familiar of the sorts but so far Maduin her father is the only known one.
