I wouldn’t take that bet simply because he self-ID’d as such in his post, saying “I don’t pay attention to politics all that much.” It’s just that “politics” got “forced” onto him by having to see a minority character in his entertainment.

Oh and I forgot to mention. America is one of if not the biggest producer of the chemical used in anti ADHD medicine. So RFK’s war on health doesn’t just hurt Americans, neuro-atypical people all over the globe might end up seeing a shortage.

Well, this was interesting to watch. The Canadian media said that Trump’s statements are the equivalent of “the ramblings of a crack addict on the subway,” and that the US has no solidarity and no unity, and are extremely fragile as a country.

Christoph Heusgen, chairman of the Munich Security Conference, cries as he summarizes and concludes. This was hard to watch, especially after I watched a clip of Vance telling the European leaders that if the American democracy can survive 10 years of Greta Thunberg, Europe can survive a few months of Elon Musk. The European leaders must be thinking, “What the hell did the US turn into, and what is going to happen to all of us now?”

I don’t remember Greta Thunberg being given direct access to the financial information of millions of Americans, or being given the power to cancel guaranteed reimbursements farmers who’d completed Government requested upgrades?

European leaders vexes me greatly right now. For once I wish we could step up and meet the challenges ahead instead of just being shocked and waiting for the Americans. Europe has had years now to get our defense production going. Little has happened. The message from America has been loud and clear for many administrations now. “You must do more to protect yourselves. We need to contain China.”. Trump, for all his horrible faults, may finally give them the kick in the ass they need to get moving. It’s ridiculous that an economy with a GDP several times larger than Russias can not even supply Ukraine with the shells they need…

I think the problem (and this is my opinion, of course), Europe is heavily reliant on US military resources when it comes to propping up their armies. We’ve been in Europe for decades, long after WW2, and we’ve continued to remain in Europe even after the end of the Cold War and collapse of the USSR.

Europe needs to realize that it can’t continue to rely on the US for its safety and security against Russia, and it needs to decide in revaluating its life in terms of building their own military, without the US being involved in any aspect of it.

I can promise you if the US withdrew from NATO (this includes a full scale military withdraw from Europe, and providing no military aid at all), some of them may eventually get invaded and turned into Russia’s backyard of influence, similar to how the Warsaw Pact had existed with backing of the Soviet Union.

Either way, it’s a live or die moment for Europe, and it must decide to take matters into their own hands.

Thing is that’s kinda the point of NATO. So that no one country has to have their military budget take up a plurality of not majority of their GDP. Sure enough much of Europe does have among the highest standards of living precisely because their investments is in their people rather than soldiers.

Nobody wins when the MIC is the only thing getting funded.

That said though Biden was already getting European nations to invest more in their defense thanks to the use of soft power. Simply telling our friends and allies ‘Hey we’re hear for you no matter what. But it sure would be nice if you pulled your own weight too.’

Trump’s a dumbass and blowing up all our soft power. Europe ain’t gonna arm up to defend themselves from Russia, no. Europe is looking to prepare for the increasingly probable outcome that America will invade…on Russia’s behalf.

Bush and Obama said the same thing. Europe needs a credible conventional and nuclear force and it needed it yesterday. Our defence is too small compared to what’s needed to deter Russia. Things happen and the US might not be able or willing to help in a crisis. It is long overdue that we take matters into our own hands and address the problem. We don’t need US superpower capabilities but we need a credible defence on land, sea and air. Further nuclear capabilities are also needed.

I have a feeling that WWIII is inevitable right now. It’s not even showing up as a typo in the text box like “Fluttershy” is, so it might have already started.

Most reasonable people can almost universally agree that it’s a bad idea to make an argument by quoting Hitler. But how about quoting Napoleon Bonaparte? That’s what Trump has apparently done recently:

I think it’s rather obvious why the Trump administration would try to invoke that quote (despite the likelihood that particular quote actually comes from a movie about Napoleon rather than from the French emperor himself).

Since many of us here tend to agree it’s a bad idea to try quoting Hitler, I’m curious if there might be a similar sentiment regarding quotes from Napoleon.
