I have seen a lot of people coming in to the store with a kid and only buy cigarettes or alcohol before leaving. I would be an incredibly grumpy kid if the adults around me waste my precious video game time only to get their own form of entertainment without getting me even a single piece of candy.

I have a question for the MtG player here: Is it true that it’s against the rules to use the shiny cards in tournament play because the foil curls up the cards so badly they are considered marked?

As far as I can gather after a quick google search, they’re considered ‘marked’ due to the player in question being able to instantly recognize exactly which card it is, based on how/where the card or foil is bent, and therefore have a slight advantage.

Why they don’t just make/use sleeves, is another matter entirely.

As far as I know, there’s no strict rules against it, though it’d probably be best to take it up with a referee/judge/organizer, just in case.

It’s still wild to me that is even a concern in the first place. Why print foils if said foil could cause issues for the people trying to use them to play the game. Why even use the foil process at that point?
