So Sonic 3 is absolutely being seen as a better Movie than the past Two by a Landslide?
What are People’s Opinion on Sonic OVA from the 90s? (Some of the OST are damn Neat!)

The OVA is alright, the dubbing is pretty ridiculous, the animation is pretty good, I like the cast (although Princess Sarah I find kinda annoying) and the story is unique. While I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite of Sonic media, I do have some nostalgia for it.

That all said, I can definitely agree that Sonic 3 is easily the best in the series so far; I personally would tie it with 2 since there is so much I love about that film, but realistically 3 surpasses.

The unfortunate Part with the OVA is that it never got continued even when there were Plans in Motion, so that’s a Aspect for why that Sonic Media doesn’t feel completed. (LOL at Princess Sara/Sarah with your Comment, she certainly felt somewhat like a Character that was supposed to be Bratty & obviously having that little “Furry Factor” to her with the Tail & Ears XD)

Hopefully Metal Sonic gets the right Treatment when he plays a Important Factor/Part in the next Movie, always found Fascination with the Character. :)

Technically speaking the OVA was gonna be a Sonic anime, but for one reason or the other it didn’t get picked up so they took the two episodes they made for it and combined them into a short movie, so that’s why it feels a bit disjointed at times.

Mhm. I would’ve been really interested if a complete Sonic Anime was happening, what Type of Stories they could’ve told with it, a true Definition of “What If” indeed. :o (By the way, “Look-A-Like” is a Fine Banger in my Opinion)

The OVA was interesting because it was kind of only nominally associated with the series; the Chaos Emeralds aren’t even mentioned in the film at all (I’m guessing MGM still doing that failed film adaptation - where the Emeralds were suppossed to have been a major plot point - during the OVA’s production kept them off-limits), and Sonic’s a far bigger jackass than he usually is.

From what I’ve heard Japanese Sonic is not really a people person. He’s a little introverted. Which is why in Sonic X he doesnt hang out with friends too often. He likes them and he’ll hang out but he’s not a guy who actively socializes.

So maybe thats why he can be a little standoffish when he thinks others are eating into his schedule.

Still he wasn’t anywhere near as jerky as he was in Fleetway/STC.

Really? I enjoyed it, and the way they bounce off each other whether comical or serious.

I think it’s because to put it bluntly Sonic isn’t very popular in Japan. That’s why more western shows and comics exist.

Maybe its not on the same level as Dragon Ball in terms of cultural influence. But there probably has to some Japanese fandom for it. Maybe its not a major culural semsation like Pokemon but there still has to be one.

There’s some Sonic fans in Japan, but nowhere near as many as North America and Europe.

Like “Fire Emblem” has a small cult fandom in America, but it’s very very huge in Japan. Supposedly it’s even more popular there then stuff like Zelda is.
@Blissful690
Because they always planned to bring it to other countries too, and they were trying to use it to help popularize Sonic in Japan. (They tried that with an F-Zero anime and Ban Dai toy cars in Japan too.)

It apparently didn’t work, as supposedly the Metarex saga/season didn’t even fully air on TV in Japan, and TMS had to put them up online. That’s how unpopular Sonic is there, SX didn’t even fully air there.
Also, just because something gets a TV show doesn’t mean it’s super popular always. Like I said, sometimes it’s used to try to make something more popular.

Minor spoilers for sonic 3.
I’ve peen people talk about a metal sonic voice actor. And I think some are being serious as it’s not just chris pratt jokes. I want going to suggest just getting Ben Schwartz with More serious tone,
Then it occurred to me, Metal doesn’t actually talk, At least in his regular form. And mute characters especially animated one’s very appreciated.

finnaly saw the new sonic movie and honestly I hate to begin the dissent but I didn’t like this one as much as the first two. 1. reeves as shadow is master casting he works the role so well. 2. the references were nice but I would have preferred the ARK in the movie 3.I’ve heard the rumors about carrie checking out and honestly I’m sad to see him go but we’ve got plenty of other sonic villans. Agent stone filling eggman’s shoes would be a lovely what if loveletter to the satam crowd who wanted to see snively take robotniks place. neo metal sonic is a criminaly underutilized badass I’m game for him to take charge. there’s also sage although I swear that sage storyline is ripped of more or less from a furry artist I know about. tldr: not saying it’s a bad movie but shadow just kinda devours the whole movie and honestly that’s been a recurring problem with shadow since forever.
ps: charachters I wanna see come back: Blaze, Rouge on the big screen because I hear she’s on a TV show. and the babylon rouges especially those three birbs because the significant difference between movie and mainline sonic canon gives them a chance to have a better backstory.

Who do most People in the Sonic Fanbase prefer, Princess Sara/Sarah or Princess Elise?

I hardly see any fans of those characters. The only princess Sonic fans seem to like is Princess Sally Acorn from the SatA.M. and Archie Sonic comic canons.

I have seen some fans draw Elise as a cutesy hedgehog princess though.
@northern haste
I think they’ll keep said character mute, as Metal Sonic is a bit cooler/scarier when he doesn’t talk. Aside from maybe Metal Overlord being an exception.

Heck, seeing her in Sonic X Shadow Generations is probably the first time we’ve seen her in a decade or so aside from the Olympics game roster.
