Apparently the American Squid Game show is going to be a spin-off instead of a remake.

I’m guessing that’s sarcasm, as oftentimes localizers don’t understand the source material, context, or culture for things they adapt…

And the irony is, a lot of Americans like foreign Asian shows, (especially anime) because they ARE different from American shows, or movies.
Americanizing things too much oftentimes ruins them for American viewers.

This is why many anime fans prefer subtitles over dubs.

Pretty much no one gets the point of the show anymore. We have Squid Game version of Johnnie Walker.

Dragon Ball evolution- Went from show about a group searching wish granting balls through out their world full of magic, tech and colorful characters became a Kung fu action flicks
Death Note live action- went from a story about a teenager that power tripping and does his best to outsmart genius by using the rules of the notebooks and eveything to final destination clone and police are dumb and the Main character whiny as an alpha male.
Cowby Bebop-Tragic Space Noir following those a group of bounty hunters with haunting past that start out as rivals but become a found family became a David Zelensky fic.

IF the amrikan squid game is a official spin off of the korean series, if produced by the original creators of the series, then I believe it wouldn’t stray too far from the vibe and message of the original.

it’d be a good way to introduce the amrikan audience to the verse.

it’s one thing to localize a series, it’s another to expand the verse by having a story taking place entirely in a different country.

It’s already been confirmed that the Anerican version will be a spin-off, not a remake. It’s already been established in the 1st season that the Squid Games exist worldwide and other countries have their own versions of it

The original creator gave his approval to the spin-off to iirc

Has anyone seen Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld yet?

I watched “Sonic 3” and “Mufasa” today. Here’s my thoughts on those movies:

“Sonic 3” was amazing. Shadow was without a doubt the highlight of the movie. I loved the way the movie fleshed out Shadow’s backstory and his character development throughout the movie. The action scenes were amazing, especially the final fight. Jim Carrey was impressive as Gerald and Ivo Robotnik, though some of his antics fell flat for me. Still, I think this movie is the best out of the Sonic movie trilogy. I can’t wait to see what Jeff Fowler will cook up next.

“Mufasa” was great and better than I expected. The soundtrack and score were amazing, the animations and visuals were great (the animals finally emote!), and many of the characters were awesome for various reasons. I loved Young Zazu’s energy and personality; Eshe is best mom; I somehow got to like Rafiki more; Kiros was a terrifying villain and reminded me of Scar from TLK 1994; and Kiara was cute and very likeable. The movie had some scenes that made me emotional, especially the part where Young Mufasa was swept away by a flood. That scene was so tense and emotional that it actually made me cry in theaters! It reminded of the wildebeest stampede scene from the original Lion King. The problems I had were the pacing issues and Timon and Pumbaa’s antics getting annoying after a while. But other than that, I had a great time watching the film in theaters.

Same for me. I did play a little Shiren.

But I think I play PMD more for the aesthetic than the gameplay.

And anyways the gameplay with others seem way too hardcore for someone more casual like me.

Besides Im more of a fanfic reader these days.

I wonder if the other Mystery Dungeon games could make me cry.

The crying mostly comes from the fact that if you die once you have to start all over again. Not even save a few items you just lose everything.

Watching the original Transformers cartoon, its a little uncanny how stilted the animation is while also having really over the top voice acting, case in point, Starscream.

Saw Sonic 3.

Damn. Didn’t think it could happen but Sonic has been having a good year this year. Sonic/Shadow Generations, and a good movie? I dread the inevitable snapback but Sonic fans are eating good right now.

Also I’m glad I somehow managed to be the only one to attend the airing, so that when Live and Learn popped I didn’t have to hide it. I openly cheered that the madmen actually done it.

And speaking of madmen doing it, that stinger at the end was worth the price alone. Not only is the group finally gonna be whole next movie, but we will have the GOAT!
