Yeah, I knew that already ^^ But still, it coulda been the meaning behind the hat itself, and what it represent more so then it’s just another one. That’s more of what I was going at, in that, AJ has always saved and respected the hat(or worn it), to suddenly not even care like in this episode, just felt so weird.
Let’s not forget we’ve seen the “hats and bows closet.” As sweet as it would be if it were this beloved heirloom that belonged to her dad before their parents got eaten by Everfree monsters or somesuch we do know that more than one exists, even if that was a gag.

exactly my point, AJ didn’t even flinch at her hat being destroyed and then rubbish binned, and “Store bought” replacement from Rarity… I mean, it felt so out of character even if it’s been all head cannon all this time :p

Applejack’s old hat (or hats, she probably has a few) has so much country character. I don’t think a hat bought in a city and presumably made in Chineigh can replace it.
