Yah, I remember her having roles in seasons 1,2 and 3 that feels important, seasons 4 and 5 just don’t leave me feeling that she is important anymore.
This is too perfect. Headcanon ACCEPTED.
“Lighten up, Francis.”
Celestia wasn’t very important/relevant in earlier seasons either. If anything, her actual important screen time has gone up (barring season 5).
In season 1, Celestia’s important actions were sending Twilight to Ponyville, and sending Twilight the tickets.
In season 2, her important actions were providing exposition about Discord, sending Twilight the friendship letters, and reversing the want-it need-it spell.
In season 3, her important actions were providing exposition about Sombra, giving Discord’s statue to the mane six, giving Twilight Starswirl’s book, and hosting Twilight’s coronation.
In season 4, she helped Twilight become more comfortable with her role, sent Twilight to the Castle of the Two Sisters, hosted the Equestria Games, provided exposition about Tirek, gave Twilight her magic
She hasn’t done much of importance in season 5, true, but that’s both because there hasn’t been an Equestria-threatening event yet, and Twilight is needing to rely less and less on her as she comes into her own.
She had a good number of casual appearances in season 1 (likely because Twilight still needed common contact), but she didn’t really do anything of note in most of them, and her appearance number had gone down by season 2 already.
My point is that if you go through the seasons, from 1 to 5, she is featured less and less.
During season 1 she was supper important, and in season 5 she gets mentioned every once in awhile.
>>The reason why she is not receiving the same amount of focus as before is that she actually created Pinkie Pie as her new avatar to live through and guide Twilight Sparkle along with out being there in person.
Then what she was doing to Luna on Nightmare Night makes her an utter total asshole.

Okay while considering the head canons presented here, I just thought up a really crazy one.
To start with, thinking back on how people starting with how things were presented in season 1, but as the seasons went on Princess Celestia seems to be more of a push over and not as important or in the spot light like she was in season 1.
So here is what I came up with, Princess Celestia is actually just as powerful as Discord, but not with the same type of motivation.
The reason why she is not receiving the same amount of focus as before is that she actually created Pinkie Pie as her new avatar to live through and guide Twilight Sparkle along with out being there in person.
She can experience Equestria first hand without being Princess Celestia and focus on making every pony happy.
She can break the 4th to help out Twilight Sparkle with the excuse of “Just being Pinkie Pie”
The only reason why Pinkie Pie has such random powerful magic is because Princess Celestia wants to have more excitement and fun without the snobby ponies of Canterlot turning the noses or freaking out of her randomness.
I’m not sure about that. Creating two new models for a few minutes of an episode sounds like more work than just putting the actual Princesses.

Damnit you beat me to it
They only appeared for a minute.
They’re nothing at all like the royal sisters.
Not sure you quite know what an OC is…
good too!
