This looks like the artist may have some potential.
 
You do need some practice though.
 
Several things here really don’t work.  
  1. I’d say the human character is too small, and looks kinda odd.  
  2. Where the pony’s front leg attaches. The lines don’t work. It should get wider at the shoulder, not narrower.  
  3. The line across the neck isn’t necessary. Just take a look at some other pictures for reference. (I know I do).  
  4. Not too sure about how you did the pony’s eye. May just be used to the show’s styles.
