Probably.
But in most cases it’s about lab accidents.
Liquid nitrogen directly on the skin causes exreme burns, the skin often falls off and exposes the underneath tissues, resulting in permanent damage.
And oh yes, there’s also the thing that if cooled at temperatures that low, anything becomes extremely fragile. Even your own body.
Shower your head in liquid with liquid nitrogen: you lose your eyes, tongue, lips, hair, ears and eardrums.
Dip it in liquid nitrogen for 30 seconds: you’re dead. Period. Brain dead. Literally, your brain stops working.
It also can lead to asphixiation, because 1 litre of liquid nitrogen expands to 700+ litres of gaseous nitrogen, so a bucket could really lower the oxygen ratio in a room.
Has anyone crazy and stupid enough actually tried?
It doesn’t evaporate that quickly.
A bucket of liquid nitrogen on your head will mess you up real bad, destroying all your external tissues.
Liquid nitrogen evaporates VERY quickly. Not quite as effective as ice-cold water in causing pain now. As opposed to searing cold-burns later.
Me thinks your a bit insane if you actually think that be a good idea. XD
Yowch.
They should’ve used liquid nitrogen for a better result.
ohhh
This time last year, a ton of people were challenging others to the Ice Bucket Challenge, a fundraiser for ALS. Essentially, you had to get soaked by ice water or donate, and then challenge others to do the same.
I am?
You lucky person, you.
