4 years ago 1k was great, and now look at how things evolved, as of late 2019, you get gpus that cost 1.2k
things have changed
>implying integrated graphics could run an extra shader
memory performance is the doom of integrated GPUs
I once had a decently running Intel HD 530 and the framerates almost halved the moment I switched from dual-channel to single-channel memory
Edited
Also, AMD CPU for the win. (Intel is too expensive.)
Runs Portal 2 on max settings. Runs Crysis on max settings (38 fps cap)
Edited because: Extension.
AMD FX-6300(25%oc), 8gb ddr3-1600, Radeon R9 380 4gb
total price: $550
It’s just because of art styles xD
Oh wow! That’s awesome, thanks for the info man, I may be able to get my beastpc sooner than I thought! :D Rock on, brony, rock on! \m/
You can build a machine to play Skyrim at max for half that, actually. I did it with a meh AMD cpu and a GTX 660 for a GPU.
And WoW takes up even fewer resources. Nah, $1k is a fairly good budget for a gaming machine.
Trust me, I’ve had enough of Intel’s shit to last a lifetime. Damn things wouldn’t even let me load the Portal 1 TITLE SCREEN.
Never buy Intel…
Would a $1000 budget be decent? I was hoping to play things like Skyrim or WoW in 60fps at full settings.
I would say it relies more on your budget than anything.
In my experience, you get more for your dollar with nVidia, but you can get a decent AMD card for cheaper.
I can see why you would think that, but honestly, this really did help me make up my mind between NVidia and Radeon, I’m not very tech-savvy yet, so I was stuck between the two because of two of my friends suggestions. :3
not sure if sarcasm or what but nvidia IS good.
