Aye, I actually have to agree. I just find the tagging rather ridiculous over something so tiny. I barely even noticed it my first look. Apologies for any issues I may of caused.

Well someone out there was searching “Octavia” may not want to see an image with little (practically nothing) to do with Octavia, and only has her as a tiny detial.

I think you’re forgetting context here, the colors of the keychain are clearly Octavia’s, and she is very often depicted in some relation to Vinyl Scratch, so I don’t see it as a pointless thing or grasping at straws.

True, I just find it outrageous. And I know how people like to throw a shitfest over something, all I was getting at is this tiny, barely noticeable without looking for it. Doesn’t seem very tag worthy, especially sense it could fit a couple other characters as well.

Now I know this probably isn’t the case, but what I’m pointing out here is Grey Mane, Lighter Grey Pelt (or occasionally visa-versa), shouldn’t instantly mean it’s Octavia, especially considering that the first two images share the purple eye color, and you cannot see a CM. I get you’re supposed to tag accordingly but I just find this a little ridiculous.

If a character is in an image, the image gets the character’s tag. It’s that simple.

Do you know why we tag minor things? Because people throw shitfits over minor things. Though most aren’t going to complain about Octavia - that honor is usually held by alicorn Twilight or Flash Sentry - we have to consider the off chance that someone will come in this comment section, guns a blazin’, and detract form the artwork. This is really more of a problem with images containing the aforementioned characters, but it still needs to be enforced on images that aren’t as “hot button”. This is a site that praises itself on its filter system. Someone out there doesn’t want to see clouds in their fanart? They don’t have to see clouds in their fanart.

Exactly, it’s a minor detail. I honestly don’t care if it’s tagged or not, but tagging a keychain that has a resemblance to Octavia with the Octavia tag makes as much sense to me as tagging an image with a cloud in the background that has a resemblance to RD’s CM with the RD tag.

That’s not even close to the situation at hand. In your hypothetical image, you would tag cloud. Not RD.

I guess, but to me it seems like “See that tiny cloud over there, it’s RD’s cutie mark. Therefor it’s justified” even if the picture has nothing to do with RD or a pegasus at all.
