I meant Kio.
Flit didn’t have a ‘vagans are people too’ moments. all he experienced was ‘they might be human but they’re worse than monsters’
And he pretty much does, all because of Yurin’s death too when you’d think he would have already been hating them because of the death of his mother several years prior.
since he’s also a kid, he’s very impressionable. between the double agent, little ill girl and elzecant, no wonder flit’s upbringing would be questioned (flit would’ve painted the vagans as inhuman monsters).
Yeah, especially with his having given Kio an AGE Gundam mobile suit simulator for his birthday when he was just a little kid while disguising it as a video game (which is why Kio’s X-Rounder abilities were awakened so early)…
that ‘yurin ghost thing’ really doesn’t help the theory that he only married his wife so he can have someone to raise to eradicate the vagans.
Edited
Yeah…just not executed very well with Kio’s arc…especially with the way Flit does a whole 180 after a brief and extremely convenient little Yurin spirit encounter despite decades of entrenched hatred. Now if Yurin had made more frequent appearances and pleading for Flit to let his hate go and make him doubt himself throughout Asemu and Kio’s arcs, then his change of heart would be a lot more believable.
in a simplified way the asunos are like the three main britannians in code geass
charles = flit are motivated by the past
schneizel = asemu are motivated by the present
lelouch = kio are motivated by the future
in a way, flit got his wish and made kio a weapon but just not the weapon he wanted kio to be (vagan destroyer)
Yeah, trying to recycle him into being Kio’s rival and then that sort of just…stopped…and they threw him against adult Asemu instead and pulled some random Vagan leader clone to be the final boss and…ugh…yeah… x_x
true.
forgot about x-rounders.
kinda sucks that they overturned his flawless victory over zeheart in the movie (they had to salvage the legilis’ rep after all).
kio’s arc is sorely mishandled.
And even though a lot of people didn’t seem to like it, Asemu Asano from Gundam AGE is similar (lacked any strong X-Rounder power, unlike Flit, and so had to simply become THAT good a pilot, a “Super Pilot”). I at least liked the first two arcs of AGE (Flit and Asemu’s, Kio’s was lame though).
true
also the Alaya-Vijnana in IBO still presents too much of an advantage despite all the drawbacks.
I liked Setsuna BEFORE his “Ascendance” to being an innovator…..
f’ newtypes
f’ coordinators
f’ innovators
garroad ftw!
never has the message of ‘newtype as tools’ been more clearer than the ‘newtype sideshow’ character.
if he was a true newtype, it would suck even more (treated like a freakshow carnival attraction).
Yeah, the Gundams, which were also initially mass produced no less (which was something a “Gundam” had never truly undergone before; at best, there was very limited mass production like the Ground Combat Gundam of The 08th MS Team, unofficially the Gundam F91, and the Victory Gundam), were really just the most modern, advanced, and strongest mobile suits developed yet but still not capable of fighting entire armies all completely by themselves.
Ones like the X / Double X required not only required an entire base on the moon dedicated to powering their (double) satellite cannon, but also needed a Flash System (or at least a system mimicking Newtype brainwaves, in the case of the Double X that used Jamil Neate’s recorded brainwave patterns from his original Gundam X wreckage from the previous Space War, that negated the need for the actual Flash System) to be able to contact the station to get the power-up, and even the Airmaster and Leopard had a Flash System for Newtype use in order to allow them to fight at their full potential.
I also did like how Gundam X Newtypes, while they may have had a number of similarities to the Newtypes of the Universal Century, rather than being seen as an “evolution” or the “hope” of humanity, they were really just mutants for all intents and purposes.
also in that setting gundams don’t mean ‘instant win’. aside from a few instances, they actually have to work their way to victory and not just massacre everything in a few seconds.
As well as probably show more Virsago / Virsago Chest Break and Ashtaron / Ashtaron Hermit Crab and the transition between them.
that they managed to believably pair the spares in such a short notice is awesome in it’s own right.
sucks that the cut episodes would’ve given the g-falcon and leopard destroy/airmaster burst ample screen time.
Yeah, it’s why I see Gundam X as a more balanced version of Gundam Wing; same animation style, a couple similar Gundams (ability-wise or aesthetically like the X/Double X to Wing Gundam/Zero, Leopard/Leopard Destroy to Heavyarms/Kai, Virsago/Chest Break to Epyon, and so on), more relatable characters that actually develop, a more interesting story that, unfortunately, didn’t get to get fully fleshed out due to the series being cut short (50 to 39 episodes).
in the SRW? the meme is the dev team is allocating a huge chunk of the budget animating the nu that they included the infamous 0 frame animation godmars to compensate.
What about?
@thanatosG3
not really canon (because of the nature of the games) but didn’t one super robot wars game recreated the EW ending but the WZC failed to blow up the entrance of mariemaia’s bunker that the DOUBLE X took a crack at it.
speaking of which, i liked that the X and DX have a limiter to their power that they can’t just zeorymer their way into victory everytime.
on the sad note is this would’ve been OP in other shows
Actually, the sizes are pretty similar after having checked out clips of each - Wing Gundam’s buster rifle, Vayeate’s beam cannon, Wing Gundam Zero’s twin buster rifle, and various mega launcher/beam rifle weapons from the later Universal Century.
When it all comes down to it though, I was never into the “super robot” style of Gundam series as opposed to “real robot” style largely attributed to the Universal Century. At least unless the series knows its over-the-top like Mobile Fighter G Gundam, but when it comes to ones like Wing, SEED/SEED Destiny, 00 season 2 and the movie, and the last 1/3 of AGE…eh…the attempt to mix super robot style with “real” drama didn’t come off so well because things like the plot armor, the way some characters develop and whatnot just kill a chunk of the tension and believability of things.
doesn’t seem to stop the fans from using previous gundams to fill the ars goetia list of gundams in that setting.
