true.
probably the first definitive hint that the war wasn’t as clear black and white. Rose might know of CGs with similar sentiments as Bismuth and telling them of what happened to her might sway things enough for the rebellion to lose.
To be fair, one extremist member of the Crystal Gems made the giant piston-powered gem-shattering spike weapon, and the leader of the Crystal Gems shot the use of such a weapon down.
hilariously I made a comparison image that homeworld is the one who developed the more ‘humane’ technology.
if people claim homeworld to be as half as despotic as they claim, a destabilizer wouldn’t cut it as a deterrent.
still waiting a rebellion era episode from homeworld’s perspective (from the diamonds’ view to the civilian’s view).
They did, but nothing specifically made for the sole purpose of shattering gems. Thus Bismuth made the “Breaking Point”, an arm-mounted piston-powered spike designed for the sole purpose of shattering enemy gems.
Though she DID say she created Rose Quartz’s personal sword (the sword wielded by Connie, Steven, and Stevonnie) so that it could easily strike down a Gem’s physical form but not damage their gem.
Though it is possible it might have changed in recent history (past several thousand yrs), I feel like I should mention that in a recent episode with Bismuth, it was implied that homeworld didn’t have technology for any hand-held weapon that could shatter gems.
then there’s the question if the shot will actually be enough to hurt pearl (do actual damage to the gem). if homeworld is as despotic as people claim it is, that’s like giving the IT guys assault weapons for protection if those arm blasters can actually shatter gems.

And it wasn’t like Peridot was intentionally aiming for Pearl’s Gem. She was aiming wildly at any of the Gems who moved toward her while trying to tell them about the Cluster to save her gem. Pearl had slipped up behind her, causing her to spin 180 degrees to aim at Pearl.
She was scared, confused, and her last-ditch effort to get off Earth (having Steven heal the broken warp pad) had failed.
to peridot’s defense (which is her case, pearl wanted her gone to end the sardonyx fiasco ASAP) she was being hunted down by the gems as well as being stuck alone in hostile territory.
Just before Peridot was poofed, she aimed her weapon at Pearl’s gem.

K thnx bai
Literally what.
Nice anon m8, 10/10.
whaaaaaa?
you see, i was commenting on how the show has made pearl into a mental wreck, and most recently took it even further. i was also making light of her apathy to humans.
as for the whole Pearls as “white Slaves” idea, I think it’s something a tad more humane
Pearls are the blind soldiers of the Gem Homeworld. following orders without question. That’s probably why Jasper called Pearl defective, because she had a will of her own. the normal pearls are probably like her holograms.
The way Pearl acts is probably in accordance with Rose’s wishes in terms with Steven.
Remember when she left Steven hanging to what seemed like his death in the Scabbard episode? just looked, then back to her sulking.
She lied to Garnet in that Sardenox episode to basically become one with her, even risked the planet with that distress beacon to do so.
Also she basically trained Connie to become a warrior slave for Steven like she was for Rose. Apparently Pearl species of Gems are how the fans put it “White slaves”, so I kinda get that, but that was really over the line in human sense.
dunno about crazy but homicidal…
she went for peridot’s gem with her spear
“most responsible mom”
Remember the time she ran away, prompting Steven to chase her until he fell from a height that would have killed him? And how she didn’t save him? How she makes Steven feel like it’s his fault his mum is dead?
Pearl may act responsible a lot of the time, but she’s also the least sane one. The one Steven would be the least safe with… I wonder if that’s why I like her so much, how she cannot be defined in a single word. How she and Amethyst too act like their opposites some of the time… Something the MLP characters do too, though that feels more forced as it’s for a friendship lesson.
Getting back on track, seeing Ruby and Saphire, I saw them as being like another Pearl and Amethyst. Kinda feels like it’s foreshadowing that Pearl and Amethyst will eventually get together to help each other with their serious mental issues. Opal would be a second garnet.
I’ve watched up to the end of Sardonyx week, saw no signs of it, the closest is how she tried to hunt down Peridot and that was just to be friends with Garnet again, not exactly homocidal crazy.
Pffbt HA! Keep watching, that psycho sense starts to flare up more and more.
Um…I never saw Pearl as the psycho, I’ve only seen her as Steven’s most responsible mom.
Uh, what makes you think that Sarge?
also, they’re two facets of Garnet. so of course they’re less interesting, but that’s what DOES make them interesting, seeing what makes Garnet be Garnet.
