@Beau Skunky
Yes, even those books don’t count as doctrine, because they’re not telling atheists how to live, or setting up morals guidelines, where as the bible does, and I know a lot of religious fanatics don’t read the bible, but the stuff in the bible was taught to them, and preached at church
@Background Pony #4FF3
Okay, I never said atheists never have extreme ideas, but they happen to be atheists with extreme ideas, those extreme ideas aren’t based on any doctrine, because no atheist doctrine exist
Given the link between belief and action, we can no more tolerate a diversity of religious beliefs than a diversity of beliefs about epidemiology and basic hygiene.
– Sam Harris, The End of Faith: Religion, Terror, and the Future of Reason, p. 46
The link between belief and behavior raises the stakes considerably. Some propositions are so dangerous that it may be ethical to kill people for believing them. This may seem an extraordinary claim, but it merely enunciates an ordinary fact about the world in which we live.
@Beau Skunky
As much I think he can be a bit much sometimes, saying he’s anywhere close to religious fanatic is bs, the only way I would consider someone aneeds atheist parallel to a religious fanatic is if they tried to deny people’s rights, or threaten them physically based on a doctrine, and since atheism has no doctrine, I don’t see that happening
@Beau Skunky
Yeah, I didn’t mean to say you were the one of condescending demeanor, lacking self-awareness. Sorry if I was confusing, I was only describing JP and that post you linked.
@a6p
You do realize, I’m one of those people that disagree with Jerry on everything else he says, right? I just think TAA is kinda like the smug atheist version of a religious-fanatic in a way, and it’s refreshing for once to see an atheist who doesn’t buy into everything TAA says.
@Beau Skunky
So you agree with JP’s ignorant strawmans. Y’know it’s funny that’s how a lot of TAA’s atheist detractors are; people without the self-awareness to realize they’re doing the same thing they accuse TAA of (condescending, ignorance, etc.).
@Background Pony #41DB
He’s actually said many times on video that he doesn’t care if people like the show, and has actually had a brony on the drunken peasants podcast a couple of times.
@Background Pony #41DB
“he sure has a lot of irrational hate for us.”
That is a huge load of shit.
He doesn’t give a shit about the fandom one way or the other.
He mocks the fandom as much as he mocks any other group of people for a joke.
@AalokTheDivine
His style, he has a “holier than thou” attitude, pretending he’s the only one in the world who can think, that everyone is retarded but him.
I also once saw part of a video where he mocked bronies, it wasn’t pretty.
For someone who is supposedly so rational and open minded, he sure has a lot of irrational hate for us.
Ah, I miss the Apple Bloom without her cutie mark.

Dawkins doesn’t “preach” atheism. He writes books about biology and against religion.
There is no atheist doctrine, it’s only a lack of belief in deities. Any patterns you may notice among atheists are not necessarily caused by atheism.
Not even the books by Richard Dawkins, and such people? There’s actually alot of books, and such preaching atheism, and such out there.
Not to mention, there’s also some religious fanatics whom never even picked up a Bible, or anything in their life.

I don’t hate him, I just think he’s no better then a religious fanatic, only the atheist version.

Shit, I’m white-knighting!
Probably one of the only times I’d agree with Jerry Peet/Bhaalspawn are his opinions on the Amazing Atheist. (And keep in mind, Jerry is also an atheist.)

Because he’s got a flippin’ cutie mark.
His logical arguments can be physically painful to those who don’t think logically.
I don’t even know why people hate him so much
