Edited because: typo
They did them for RR and FG, if I recall correctly.
I honestly thought Shout!Factory just stopped doing commentary tracks entirely after the Season 1 collection.
The commentary on the regular DVD noted this, too.
Wait– there was BluRay commentary???
Apparently it was in the bluray commentary. First it would’ve been Spitfire, then Lightning Dust, then they introduced a new character all together. :P
but she got repleaced by Indigo Zap
Has anyone on staff actually come out and said that, or is it still just fairly obvious conjecture?
Did any of you know that she was gonna be on Friendship Games, but she got repleaced by Indigo Zap as the producers wanted a new character?
I suppose you’re right, it just kinda made me laugh at first.
Caucasian
When everyone is all over the rainbow in terms of skin/hair/eye color, I don’t think you can really tag peach-ish skin as anything other than just “peach-ish”.
We could ask the same about Norman.
You have a point.
green characters don’t sell very vell among girls
I forget whether it was at a convention panel or on Twitter, but Jim Miller has mentioned that Hasbro instructions with that exact rationalization from Season 1 were in fact the reason why there have been so few Green Pones, and that the animation directors and storyboard/layout artists been actively trying to include more of them in S5 and beyond. It was part of the same gendered toy marketing Pink Aisle nonsense that gave us Pinklestia in S1-S2 toys; excutives decide that “Girls want X” or “Boys like Y” and then use a combination of loaded focus groups and heavily slanted marketing to turn that into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Helping to wreck that ridiculousness is one of the major impacts Friendship Is Magic has had on the toy/cartoon/merchandising industry– WLF and Hot Topic may have shitty business practices, but they’ve made marketers and merchandisers sit up and take notice of new ways to sell stuff to people with money to spend– but hardly anyone realizes it because it’s all going on behind corporate closed doors. Equestria Girls exists in the first place because Hasbro wanted to bite Mattel’s (enormous) success with Monster High, which is itself a huge great middle finger to the idiotic idea that girls are only interested in rigidly defined corporate-approved Girly Stuff™.
My theory is that they think green characters don’t sell very vell among girls. If Lyra wasn’t a very popular pony, we probably wouldn’t get toys of her
True, but apparently that was only a prototype of Indigo. That doll wears nearly an exact copy of Indigo’s clothes. Some idiot at Hasbro didn’t realize how similar they were until after they made a prototype doll and then her design was changed.
Even if she is in Friendship Games, she’ll be a minor character.
There was and still IS a indication. Lightning Dust has a equestria Girls Doll…so if you put one and one together…
@Background Pony #0BB9
You are NOT i even think she is best pony <3
I reckon it’ll be like Rainbow Power or something. X3
Also, Lightning Dust has actual fans? I thought I was the only one.
Copyright or something? What is it?
