Actually, I don’t think Doom 3’s THAT bad. It certainly gets an undeserved rep. The flashlight thing’s slightly annoying, and the soundtrack’s completely dull and forgettable, but otherwise, it’s not half bad. It’s just not the same Doom everyone was hoping for. Basically, They Changed It, Now It Sucks–to quote the trope.
And now I’m reminded on how I’ve been meaning to look up Yahtzee’s stuff.

But then you end up playing Doom 3 instead of the classic you thought you were getting. Or that one port of the first one where it’s all generally the same, but the music just sounds…bad.
I know, who doesn’t love that game?
I know right? So warm, so kind, so inviting–well, I suppose it IS inviting, if the invitation was to DOOM, anyway.
