It’s a deviantArt watermark.
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one that saw that.
Sweetie looks really transparent here.
GASP SWEETIE A DED!!!
You’re right, it’s pointless to argue about a ship that probably never gonna happen in the first place, let shippers be shippers, I guess.
#NotAllShippers
Those that do are nothing but heathens to be cast into the pits of Tartarus.
Not really, but it is kinda dumb imo. She’s her own filly, darn it!
I didn’t said all SpikeBelle shippers do, but you can’t ignore the fact that some shippers kinda do use Sweetie as a replacement Rarity.
“and the way shippers use Sweetie as a fill-in for Rarity doesn’t help either”
That’s nothing but your assumption. And absolutely false for most Spikebelle shippers.
>Sweetie Belle has a crush on Spike.
>Spike has a crush on Rarity.
>Sweetie Belle is insanely jealous of her big sister, so tries to sabotage all of Spike’s moves on Rarity.
>Spike is seriously annoyed at this, but can’t do anything about it because he thinks he has to be polite to Sweetie Belle to win Rarity’s favor.
>Rarity is torn between being (when she’s being mature about it) happy that Spike has a female friend of a more appropriate age, and (when she’s not being mature about it) being jealous of her little sister trying to steal “her Spikey-wikey” away from her.
This isn’t just shipping, it’s a comedy gold mine.
sure he’d try his darndest to get away from sweetie’s affections. until the inevitable crushing rejection from rarity because he’s like half her age come on. and then guess who’s there to pick up the pieces?
it’s fine not to like the pairing. (many find it kind of creepy) but it’s not too much of a stretch if you put it in context.
it’s that cute, happy love story where the nice girl has been doomed to the friend zone, but the boy is shot down, leading him to finally realize who has been there for him all along.
I agree, I ship Spike with just about any character, but Spikebelle never appealed to me. SB’s character just does not fit Spike’s. If anything, I could see SB having a crush on Spike and Spike trying to do his darndest to get away from her.
Given that 90% of the character of Button Mash was created by Jan, making him practically an OC, there’s a bit of difference there.
The people who really ship Spikebelle don’t just use her as a fill-in for Rarity; we often make scenarios where they get together based primarily on their own selves. The people who say the stuff about “Girl rejects you? Go for her sister” are either joking or don’t really ship it. Or are weird and have to give that sort of creepy justification for their ships.
I don’t know why this ship is so popular, Spike and Sweetie Belle rarely interact with each other in the show, it no different then SweetieMash to be honest, and the way shippers use Sweetie as a fill-in for Rarity doesn’t help either.
