Remember when the germans got Me-262 jets and King Tiger tanks? Shows how great their technology was. Really, the reason they lost was due to Hitler being a nutcase (Instead of heading straight for Moscow (Like his generals suggested), he decides to secure his flanks first).

They didn’t beat the Soviets because they got backup from the British (they were fighting the Germans elsewhere) and Americans (they delivered supplies), duh. The Wehrmacht probably would have conquerored everything up to the Urals if they had their full force over there. War on several fronts simultaneously defeated the German Troops.
 
Why use outdated technology? -> It’s not determined in what era this picture is set in. (MLP is very anachronistic in terms of technology anyway) If their enemies use WW1 weaponry this stuff here would be totally overpowered. (and overpowered technology does not guarantee a victory. So it’s totally possible that they use the superior weaponry… and lose anyway. This was actually the case for Germany in many terms in WW2, but there were also times they defeated enemies with superior weapons. The french tanks for example were far stronger than the German tanks in 1940. The Tiger was the first German tank that was actually superior to other tanks of that time)
 
The title of this picture could mean anything because we don’t now any historical context of the NLR of this picture here… Actually, we could know what this is about. the description on dA says this picture belongs to a fanfic. I didn’t read it, so I dunno which lost ground is meant. But it’s obviously not representing any territory in the real world that Germany lost during WW2.
 
Considering NLR, well yeah I doesn’t necessarily makes much sense for not evil ponies to full Luna instead of Celestia cause there is no real reason to change things for the vast majority of the population of Equestria. You are right about that. I see it more like personal thing between Luna and Celestia, if anyone should be following Luna it can’t really be to overthrow a bad regime, but just for Luna in particular. If that’s dumb, well yeah then that’s dumb. Btw. I also like Nightmare Moon and the evil is for the most part more interesting than the good, so a NLR led by Nightmare Moon wouldn’t be something I hate.

Why use outdated technology when you can use glorious modern NATO equipment? I wouldn’t be surprised if they-like the people who used that equipment before- are losing. The title is “taking back lost ground”. What is this? Battle of the Bulge 2.0?

The weapons and uniforms are based off the nazis, so what? That doesnt mean they are nazis. And for historical correctness: The Armies of Nazi Germany were more than capable of winning wars against equal enemies (France & England in 1940, USSR until Stalingrad). They lost because Hitler was stupid and made himself more enemies than anyone could handle. Just sayin that.
 
But let’s dish that aside, this picture is about the Mane 6 (errr 5, Rarity is missing somehow) in a war fighting for NLR. It doesnt make them Nazis that they use WW2 era German equipment. (which was actually well designed, so thats not a bad choice there)
 
And if you don’t like NLR, well, that’s your thing. And it’s not about Celestia being a tyrant, it’s about Luna being rebellious against her sister and wanting to change things.

I guess he/she’s saying that due to the German stuff in this picture, but oh well. They are supposed to be New Lunar Republic as seen on the hats and neither Wehrmacht nor SS, so calling this fascist or nazi is wrong anyway.^^

Sort of an interesting aside: Hugo Boss (his fashion company still survives today) designed the uniforms for the Wermacht and Nazi party before WW2.

Remember reading stories from Tiger crew about how they wanted to ride this one guy somewhere but since the tank was full, he had to sit at the back. Once they were there, they stopped and waited a bit for him to get off the tank but he didn’t. Turns out the guy ended up dying from the exhaust smoke.
