Interesting theory my good sir.
If I were to hazard a guess, I’d say SuperDEF was on the right track and something about Trixie’s self-love makes it repellant to Changelings.
Like, say, selfless love where you want to do anything you can to make your partner happy might taste great, but a selfish love where you’re the most important person in your life might taste, for want of a better word, wrong.
I imagine other kinds of twisted love like yanderes or brocon/siscon might also taste odd to the Changelings.
Doctor, if someone’s love tastes ‘awful’ what does it stand for? tilts head
YES!
Time for me to do my, “I Was Right”, dance!
Panel 1:
Trixie: With my strength, I can’t beat her… (she uses 勝てない/ katenai as in ‘can’t win’)
Panel 2:
Chrysalis: Huh?
Panel 3:
Chrysalis: Your love tastes awful. (she uses 不味い/mazui as in ‘bad’ or ‘tastes bad’)
Floating text: I’m surprised. (she uses びっくりした/bikkurishita, the past tense of bikkuri i.e. ‘surprised/ shocked’)
Panel 4:
Trixie: ?!
Reminds me of that other comic where Tirek fails to absorb Trixie’s magic.
