This is a country that needs either imperial expansion or a positive trade balance just to survive.
The show got the hoarding part okay. And there’s a fanfic idea buried in that. A pryde of griffons (and maybe members of other species), in complete “WANT” mode, trying to steal from a dragon.
Yeah, plus as shown, griffons were supposed to hoard gold like dragons, which also attracted knights and others intent on making a quick fortune.
That would make the often-speculated (in fanfics, at least) pony-griffon war even more gruesome than it otherwise would be.
It’s also why griffons are supposed to hate horses, on top of eating them, horses were used by knights who supposedly tried to raid the nests for unhatched eggs.
Interesting. I wasn’t aware of that.
A rough start for their life.
Well, according to legend, griffons lay eggs made of precious stone. So by that logic, they’d have to be both strong and have tough claws and beaks to break out of their own eggs.
That, or it’s a really rubbish rock.
Look at all dem roots everywhere, this cliff can’t be as solid as it looks.
