What does Silver Quill have to say about that?
Based on an obscure Scythian Greco-Roman myth. They manage to pull it off beautifully. Looks like the show writers have done their research on various folklore.
So did the Turkic nomads of Central Asia. Mainly the Xiongnu(the Huns) and the Dingling people. They live at close proximity
Griffons have some Greek characteristics. As did the Scythians and Turkic tribes.
To me, the hats Pinkie and Dash were wearing looked very Mongolian, as did some of the griffon outfits, but less clearly.

So griffons are apparently Scythian themed?
I take it this is the closest we’ll get to Grogar, unless Arimaspi has a brother.
yah, this. It was like a figurative expression for something impossible. Like ‘black swans’.
I thought the point of hippogriffs was that they were rare because regular griffs preyed on horses.
Well played MLP
Well played
Grogar was prolly a two-eyed freak among its race.
Me too.
Edited because: Rule 7
Ya know, if Grogar does get introduced into the series, I’d like two things to happen
Wow, that’s awesome!
Then that means there’s still a chance for Grogar to appear in G4.
