That skull is big enough to be a house.
I wonder how “Are You Afraid of The Dark” would be rated today if it were a current show and not from the 1990s. The first episode I remember watching was “The Tale of the Shiny Red Bicycle” - before I was five years old.
It involved friendship and death.
That’s a bad general rule, but a reasonable decision in this case.
@cheezedoodle
It’s a bit more than that given the context (bad guy falls, dies, skull ironically perched forever staring at the object of their greed!)
But since I’m also arguing that a mere few seconds’ more context would excuse it (Gilda makes the opposite decision, assisted by memento mori, saving all three from certain doom!), I guess that’s moot.
Those little flowers.
That was like back then.
We need more shows like that today. Though I thought that show was usually TV-G, which is generally more lenient.
A TV-Y program discussing death in a mature and blunt manner.
Standard and Practices (the official name for “the censors”) are there only to rate what content is shown. Since the show is TV-Y (the rating with the tightest control) there is certain obvious content that will not fly. If the show was TV-Y7, then that would significantly loosen the grip of the censors. I remember the Justice League having so much innuendo, Gargoyles had an episode about gun control with one the characters profusely bleeding from a gunshot wound (though it has been banned since), and in Gravity Falls, there was a serious moment where Dipper had shed blood as well (a nosebleed sure, but it’s still blood).
That all being said, I don’t know how much would honestly change if the show did go to TV-Y7. I think some of the action scenes, especially S4 finale would’ve benefited but I don’t know about anything else.
one of these days my microphone will get it right completely
Okay thank you then. I only argued for what I thought was right.

But noone gets past the census bureau!
Edited
Guess that’s how they were able to get it past Hasbro. I guess I could re think my stance here, but I’m only a dark lover catering to anyone who hates this kind of stuff.
Yeah, it is true people are weanies and would start a huge uproar over it. I don’t get any form of censorship.
that would need to get past the census first
Sadly it does appear people don’t want to rate it as semi-grimdark despite being semi-grimdark, just because it’s a screencap from the show. I wonder how people would react if Hasbro allowed mild blood shedding violence set in a serious manner.
IMO it does warrant a semi-grimdark rating taken on its own like this. With even a few seconds to either side it might not though. shrug
This isn’t out of context though. That makes it G rated.
That seems rather neglectful of the tag and why it’s used though. Is there an actual reason rather than, this show must never reveal itself as dark on this site in any way even if it shows something worthy of naming the image as dark?
Unedited shots are also uploaded as out of context if the image appears sexual.
Apparently for FiM MLP. It’s a precedent.
also this isn’t the first time a skeleton has appeared in a kids show
They find a still working gameboy in the year 4235AD
This would be semi-grimdark at best if you know the context.
