You do know that all the shit about all hippies being stoners isn’t serious right?

Hippies were a pacifist movement in the United States.
 
And as a counter cultural movement, also embraced civil rights for people of colour and women.
 
Embraced the plight of the poor and working class.
 
Challenged gender roles.
 
Challenged the Christian status quo.
 
And hippies also rejected monogamy as the only option for relationships, abstinence, and prudery.
 
And many believed in the importance of peace and love today.
 
Much like many bronies have embraced “love and tolerance”, hippies embraced peace and love.
 
But people choose to ignore the good change hippies made for the world, and instead choose to remember only choose to remember drugs and sex that hippies partook in.
 
I can see that hippies were far ahead of their time. Many of the lessons that the hippies, we have failed to learn and remember.
