Princess Luna Military Portrait
Commission for Infrasonicman featuring Princess Luna in a Military style portrait.
A follow up to the previous commission of *Princess Twilight Coronation Portrait
Trying to keep it in roughly the same style. Even though my style has changed throughout these last months, and the Twilight was made before some big changes, it’s good that some old habits don’t really die, but just might need a bit of refreshing.
Of course things may change, but change is fine!
Moon Moon.
One big ‘puzzle’ in this one was getting the face angle, that subtle angle in between full front and 3/4. In general I want to do more varied angles, so this was a fun take on that. Having to figure out the exact shape at the same time always adds that extra layer of complexity. Dem pony faces, eh.

Yegads, I guess that’s what happens when you don’t have a respectable opponent for a few hundred years. You get all weird and ritualistic about battle.
The pants were actually dumber even than the
cardinal furry cosplaycoats; the shock white came from white clay that they were required to constantly work into the fabric, so it was like wearing your own personal mudbath pantaloons on military maneuvers.Bright vivid colors may work a treat for generals dressed like popinjays trying to pick out their own men in the literal fog of war caused by black powder muskets being fired in volleys on open ground, but they also worked a treat for small units of riflemen dressed in dirt and tree colors trying to pick off those popinjays while firing from the treeline nearby.
It’s a common feature of the animal kingdom for the females to have sense enough to stand quietly and unobtrusively to the side in camouflaged colors while the garishly-hued males make noisy idiots of themselves and draw the attention of predators and other noisy idiots. Snipers aim for shiny brass and colorful ribbons, not tasteful costume jewelry and subdued floral prints.
