The episodes are still just the very standard of slice of life (except Premiere/Finales, which I wish was how the entire show worked) with extremely small structure changes. All I notice different between S1 and S4 is that they don’t make friendship letters anymore.
Like I said, most big changes like Twilight Sparkle becoming an alicorn are purely cosmetic, she doesn’t act differently nor does she really do anything different. I was hoping after S3’s finale that she’d move to Canterlot and Twilight would have drama relating to a very busy job, or whatever similar that would be a true game changer. But through all of S4 she’s just messing around with her friends as usual except now she has wings.
Her castle, too, pointless. It’s a house that looks different and has a map (thus far unused outside P/F), they haven’t done much with it (granted, too early to tell, I’ll give you that, but E3 shows it’s still generic slice of life above everything else).
Weird how I’ve heard people praise this show specifically for going against status quo, and yet you think that’s all it is? Go back to season 1 and it’ll instantly feel totally different. Twilight is no longer the main character, no longer a unicorn, no longer has to make friendship reports. The things the show was based on? They’ve changed them all. Sure some of it was season 2 getting a higher age rating letting them do more, but they are constantly changing the structure of the show. And this season has that map thingy which means more adventure episodes!.. Hopefully. Unless they’re gonna screw with us AGAIN with that.
The sort of interesting question the show doesn’t really want to answer, I dislike its disregard for lore and world building. Show is still OK though, overhyped but decent.
Come to think of it, who do you think is using Twilight’s old room in Canterlot?
Basically the ONLY changes the show has made, and they barely changed the show’s structure, mostly some visuals. Maybe if Twi Alicorn moved to Canterlot or something, but the episode basically still feel the same as they were in S1. Twilight’s new home is also mostly a cosmetic change.
Also. Still waiting for that Celestia episode.
>Claims FiM is “Status Quo is God” type of show.
>Twilicorn
>Friendship Castle
???
I hate shows that need to maintain their status quo no matter what. Only exception for me is comedies like Futurama.
