Y’know, the joke is kinda old now. Even if you guys didn’t enjoy Sonic’s games, Sonic himself actually enjoyed his adventures, so it’s not really that ironic. It’s actually kinda a nice comment in a way. Sonic looks to the future, while his fans/critics/haters are stuck in the past.
 
Now I hear people are even hating on Sonic’s good games like Sonic CD, so maybe some are taking the hateraid too far.

Sonic, stop lying to past Sonic. Everyone knows that your games started to suck after Sonic Rivals 2 ended and it never got better again after that until Sonic Mania showed up 10 years later so most of your future games were crappy.

Truth to be told, it’s (some of) us that didn’t enjoy Classic Sonic’s future, Sonic (and by that I mean, the character) looked more than happy in his last decade of adventures.

The only Sonic game that I think is legitimately terrible is 2006, and even then it had its good points.
 
  1. The music. The music is so awesome that it’s pretty much the only thing everyone agrees is good.
     
  2. The story in general may have sucked, but it did show that Shadow’s character development from his solo game actually stuck.
     
  3. Silver does not deserve the amount of hate that he gets. He had an interesting premise ruined by a shitty game with shitty controls.
     
     
    I’m honestly convinced that if Sonic Team waited a few more years, they could remake in a way that doesn’t suck.
     
    It’d be a hell of a challenge, but it could still work.

…Am I the only person here who doesn’t hate every Sonic game made after 1992?  
(Granted Princess Elise frenching Sonic’s dead body still haunts me… So I will admit not every Sonic game is “good.”)
