It’s stated the light and power of the Crystal Heart Spreads all over Equestria. The only way to escape it would be to leave Equestria and he would have to do so in less than a day. So really his choices were “You can be a good guy, put the heart back and die for everyone who has treated you like dirt your entire life or you can remove the heart and live.” Doesn’t seem like much of a choice to me.
Oh, yeah, this choice is also coming from the lady who STOLE the heart from a dragon in the first place and had to get Celestia to bully it into submission when it got mad at her for stealing from its hoard.
Even if Sombra wanted to be good, the heart would kill him anyway because he is an Umbrum. The only he could survive without removing the heart would be to choose to be sealed away with the other umbrum and we do not know if that is possible and is most likely a far worse fate.
True.
@Background Pony #0FAE
I think you can understand the poetic flourish he was going for.
This dude gets it.
@Stotter
Why is what he did the wrong choice? His options were basically:
A: Disable the crystal murder heart, leave the ponies that bullied you all your life defenseless, and help free your family
B: Die
C: Abandon everything and everyone that you know so you can see if the next village treats you any better.
Looks like a pretty obvious choice to me.
This guy gets it.
uh, no
oh really? wow do I feel sheepish.
did he ever try to y’know leave town when the fair was going on? sure it’s cold out there but it didn’t seem to bother him in the show. something’s giving you radiation poisoning, you generally don’t want to pick a room with an open window facing the thing not a hundred feet away.
ffs.. that was me there btw, touch screen technology in the House yo!
And I truly hope that satanic invention burns in fire..
This comment dude, I just fucking love it! xD
I can just picture characters from the show in horribly morbid scenarios go all Rafiki on the situation and say, “It doesn’t matter, it’s in the past!”.
But on a more serious note, I just can’t agree on that even a little bit.. After you first put some kid under physical torture and then you tell them to leave everything he knows, All of it, just leave it behind and exile himself from the one place he knows as home, I mean just how much more cruel can you get, especially when you’re doing all of this knowingly to that kid?
We’ll certainly. No one was asking you not to.
whatever, the past is the past and i can’t change it, if someone threats me or my love ones, i will deal it regardless any Freudian excuse past the threat may have.
That’s true. Though, her differing appearance was a factor, the main reason the ponies feared her was because she dwelled in the Everfree Forest, so yeah, like I think, I don’t think the ponies are racist and if they are they can easily be changed of the mindset. It’s more of that they fear differing magic types, since their own magic makes them feel so secure.
you know, I haven’t even taken much time to think about this, but if I remember the episode right, I don’t think the display of fear from the ponies was due to xenophobia, it might be possible due to a very clear phobia of witches and witchcraft, something that to them Zecora seemed to suggest through her attire, weird behavior when going into town, the fact that she lived in the Everfree Forest, etc.
I get that people immediately chucked that down to just stereotyping on the ponies’ parts, but, is it really stereotyping if she’s given them multiple reasons to believe her associated to witch-crafting?
this is more akin to the medieval fear of witches if you asked me, but anyway, that’s just a random thought that occurred to me.
I dunno. I always felt it odd how Zecora gets flack, but a griffin, a mythological creature that ate horses and the sworn enemy of pegasi, seem to walk around even pegasi cities without someone glaring at them or anything.
It could be due to different cultures, or the fact that Zecora probably lives so far away and the Griffins most likely are big trading partners/neighbors to Equestria that they grew used to them.
Of course, then we see the comic dealing with dragons………Ponies can be really racist, yes, but they are also very forgiving. Give ‘em a reason to like you, like helping them out in a crisis, and they seem to just put their racism aside.
It’s probably due to being herbivorous creatures.
Because Donkey have the same culture of ponies, Griffins because… are they legal neutral?
I think that it’s more the fear of caos and unknow.
Yet no one bats an eye at Griffins or Donkeys. It was just zebras because……uncanny valley effect?
In my headcanon ponies are racist.
I don’t believe Celestia would have killed Sombra, but she wouldn’t let him wander around given his very nature. She’d probably give him some sort of home far enough away from ponies, but close enough that she could keep an eye on him.
No harm from the Crystal Heart and all that, but we don’t know exactly for sure. Heck, Sombra says, like Darth Sonic mentioned, that they fight monsters and are these DND adventurers.
That and ponies can be speciest. {Zecora}
I remember that ponies are afraid of a zebra in modern age… They are a little xenophobic, in my mind.
yeah. Hopefully it’s nothing like the changelings, except they feed on fear instead of love, that would be quite uninspired.
