Pony society is completely peaceful. They can resolve friendship-breaking arguments in minutes and still be friends. In addition, much of the presentation of Equestria itself leads me to think ponies have not faced a major, nation-wide conflict in a long time, perhaps never. Therefore, I think if ponies tried to fight a war against a determined enemy the won’t back down so easily, they would be slaughtered. They wouldn’t know what to do in a situation like that. Now, I know we have seen many examples of ponies physically fighting, and doing so well. But there’s a difference between knowing how to box or being strong, and fighting a war. Perhaps, given time, they could learn warfare, but time is the second casualty of war.

If ponies tried to fight a war, it would be almost literally the Franco-Prussian War, with Equestria playing the part of France.

If MLP needed to make a more obvious message to their audience that violence is not the answer it would be a war started by celestia and luna vs some civilization who wants something and twilight attempts to make peace before the war starts but the 2 princesses were too ignorant and clung to previous experiences in their lives only believing that the the leader of this empire that opposes Celestia and Luna will not believe in peace and only wants to rule Equestria for him/herself like how Tirek, Sombra, Discord, and Luna wanted to take over Equestria for themself. Twilight tries to convince the enemy that this conflict isnt for a good cause and that their leader should stop the war before it begins. Twilight successfully convinces them that they should not make war but word does not make it to the ground forces in time and they already ingage in combat by the time the message from Twilight reaches Celestia. In the army Flash Sentry, shity OC, and ten hundred ground troops ingadge in combat and Celestia goes out and stops the fighting herself and when she arives hundreds of ponies are wounded and forests are burnt to crisp and Celestia sees what horror war brings and that she learns a lesson on how violence is never the answer and that you should always look for a peacefull solution in conflicts. BOOM good season 5 finale and Twilight gets bumped up one more peg when Celestia writes Twilight a message on harmony.
