You can in fact light up a neon tube without wires if you have a Tesla coil running nearby. It’ll pump enough electric current into the surrounding air to power the tube.

True, Glow sticks use a combination of Hydrogen Peroxide and Diphenyl Oxalate. Except for certain dyes there’s nothing but hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon in there.
