That’s great to hear.
But the downside is, when we create something and we stick to the decisions that fans won’t like (such as Twilicorn or Cheerimac instead of Fluttermac in Hearts and Hooves day), they’re gonna be salty and fan fictions won’t go outside of their imaginations and be read-only, unless you’re a professional screenwriter for TV shows and films.
Which is why I wish visual fanfiction would exist (So I would see a 25 minute video of Fluttermac to make me feel like Hasbro canonized it lol), which it kinda does considering fan animations and fanart or fan videos, which they are made by fans and not by the people behind the show fans like.
A lot of times, the fans grew up to become creators of their own. Joss Whedon and Bryan Singer were definitely fans of scifi and other stories well before they went on to create their own.
And of course, when it comes to older series, it’d hard to work on the newer versions of the series and not be a fan. David Tennant grew up watching Doctor Who and swore he’d play a Doctor one day (which he did), and JJ Abrams was a huge fan of Star Wars even before he was a director. And that can also be great.
But at the same time, there’s stuff where promoted fans end up making stuff like this:
How? Did the fans become professional writers like Joss Whedon or Bryan Singer?
I assume they did.
Edited
But sometimes fans get hired to become part of the series, and then their fanfics become canon. This happens a lot with stuff like Star Wars and comics like Marvel, and has been amazingly good but can also be pretty bad.
Because fanfics (shipping or not) don’t fix everything that’s canon?
Because fanfics (shipping or not) can’t be adapted into television or film (by big official companies) because it’s made by fans?
I’ve heard that sentence over the years over and over. Not just for Fluttermac, but for ANY ship.
I like Fluttermac, but I’m perfectly fine with it staying in the fandom. I mean, look all the recent material Fluttermac has got despite its current state. It’s great, and I like it that way.
I don’t get why people insist ships need to become canon to be any better.
You can’t ruse me anymore, I’m numb.
Your uncle works at the studio, so I can take that at face value!
Beware the false prophets!! This was rumor a for Season 4 as well but it never really came through. Trust me, no one wants this ship go cannon more than I, but take these rumors with a grain of salt
