It’s still amused JawJoe is still salty about how MLP was. He actually ran into my fimfiction dms ranting about how upset he was.

1: Lots of thing I love have gone to shit while under the watch of the person (or people) who brought it about. Mass Effect under Hudson, 90’s Trek under Piller, the reimagined Battlestar Galactica under Moore, Starcraft under Metzen, and recently Elite under Braben. Thus the idea that only the creator does it right is laughably naive to me.

2: The corporate control has always been there, even going all the way back to the creator of MLP itself, Bonnie Zacharie. Like with Zacharie, MLP is Hasbro’s IP, not Faust’s, thus it was always going to be the arbiter of what’s what.

3: Have you actually gone back and rewatched season 1 recently? It don’t hold up nearly as well as a lot of Faust ass-kissers seem believe.

Ok i nomally buttout of stuff like this but why do you think the show wouldn’t have gone to shit without Faust? Unless you mean Hasbro would have still pushed the same kind of corporate demands, in which I agree and wonder if the middle of Art of the Dress was forshadowing that….

Do you still feel the same way now, or has your opinion softened? Sincere question BTW, because for me season 3 went from “it’s alright, better than season 2 at least” to “one of my favourite seasons” upon recent rewatch.

In all honestly, that’s what I love of the show: There’s no set ground as to what’s happening on the show, which establishes different headcanons and such. The problem with this however is that some people will think their headcanon is right and right only, all while other getting onto the case of others’s different canons.

Celestia and Luna were born Alicorns. Twilight and Cadence ascended to such (their bodies changed and they’re way powerful)
 
As for the immortality question specifically, I guess it’s up to you as the show is probably not gonna contradict anyone’s headcanon on mortality anyway. Plus in a world with messy timelines and time traveling anything is possible.

Overall, JawJoe’s journal made me laugh.

they are stating logically the reasons why they find it poor, so much so that people can actually understand those reasons and find them coherent enough to be viable.
 
it’s also important to note here that the points this JawJoe took issues with were related to the overall execution of the thing, not the idea of Twilicorn, that’s probably why a lot of people don’t mind it too much, because most other people that you mentioned express in less coherent and logically sound reasons why they find issue with Twilicorn being, Twilicorn, as well as occasionally trying to tell people why they should too.

Of course. Everything in this blog is my opinion. Explained in immense detail, but still just an opinion.
 
I didn’t write this to change anyone’s mind (on the internet, that’s impossible). It was more about trying to figure out why I, personally, take issue with the show’s current state. You’re free to like Twilicorn, though I don’t agree that the show handled that development remotely well.  
The thing is that product placement is growing increasingly blatant in the show, the way I see it. What’s worse is that it’s increasingly going to the detriment of the show’s quality and story; I consider Twilicorn and her new castle to be prime examples of forcing toys into the show where they have no place. I fear this trend will continue and grow even more prevalent. It’s going to inhibit character growth and story development, because every plot thread has to bend over backwards to better serve as vehicles to sell toys.

Way better handled than Byter, Chad Rocco and possibly Digibrony and Tommy Oliver. To be fair, Digi at least enjoyed Seasons 1-3 before he became to distance himself from the fanbase and lead to his..ahem..views during Season 4.

I don’t get it. Whenever someone like CR, Kwark, or DisneyMaster bashes the current state of the show and anyone who still enjoys it, they get torn apart. But when JawJoe does it, everyone praises him. I’ve actually seen commenters on his “I Want to Take the Wings Off, But I Can’t” fanfic saying it’s the greatest story they’ve ever read. I can’t see how someone could love a 22,553-word author tract with the not-so-subtle message of “Alicorn Twilight sucks”?
