Precisely. Apparently Hasbro outsourced (and still outsources?) its IP protection to a different company, which sometimes does things that Hasbro proper doesn’t necessarily approve of and/or know about…

So in other words, the legal team basically acted alone on this case.

I love these two. Their chemistry in Don’t Mine at Night was so perfect; Rarity isn’t the only member of her family who knows how to yank a boyfriend’s chain…

Hasbro and JanAnimations are at peace (see >>598167 and >>284399); it looks like the problem was that Hasbro literally outsources its legal department, and they pounced against the will of the corporation as a whole. (Hasbro does a lot of strange things; my working theories are that they’re a feudal state dressed up as a corporation, and that they don’t actually like making money.)
 
So if JanAnimations recovers from his demoralization, maybe we’ll see more of these two from him; even if not, I don’t think it’s completely unreasonable to hope that they might show up in the actual show…
