“Everything You Did” is from Steely Dan’s “The Royal Scam” album, most of which kicks a lot of ass. In particular, Carlton’s opening guitar solo on “Don’t Take Me Alive”
Ancient trivia time: the phrase “steely knives” is a reference to contemporary rock group Steely Dan; earlier that year, in the song “Everything You Did” about a bitter break-up, Steely Dan included the line “Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening.”
