The Covenant had come.
Master Chief had seen the ships descending from the sky. They weren’t the green of the Sangheili or other “traitors”. It was the gleaming purple of the Old Covenant. Brute ships… He had taken a captured Ghost from the wreckage of the Dawn to get a closer look - troop movements, numbers, firepower, and the like. It was only three ships, but for this planet?
Sweetie had insisted on coming along. He didn’t know why he had taken her along, it was a stupid idea. Still, she had a way of getting what she wanted. It was the eyes, those damn green eyes. Well, he wouldn’t be close enough to engage them, and they did have the Ghost…
The Covenant had always been clever at adapting to new situations, and here, they had secretly landed troops to secure a few key areas before the main force arrived. Chief had the misfortune of quite literally running into one of the camps. A lucky shot from a turret had torn their Ghost to shreds, and it was a miracle they hadn’t been caught in the blast. But, that miracle was running out. Along with the Ghost, the blast had done hell on his rifle and shield generators. They still worked, but the rate was nil. If they had more time, it might not have been a problem, but a large and hungry-looking Brute was heading towards them, swaggering proudly with the swing of his hammer. He paused to take in his prey, yellowed fangs curling into a triumphant grin. Chief tried to stand up, but the crash had done something to his legs. He could barely move. This isn’t how it was supposed to end…
Sweetie had fared far better. She was dirty, cut-up, and if the Covenant didn’t kill them, Rarity would from the state of her clothes, but she was alive and well. To both his and the Brute’s surprise, she got up and stood between them, with as much fury as an eight-year-old could muster. The Brute only smiled wider and turned to look at him. “Sacriledge, murder, and now cowardice… It will be a joy to cleanse your sins, Demon.” She pulled out a plasma pistol from her jacket and held down the trigger. So, she was learning. The Brute just laughed. “A toy! You mean to challenge me with that? I shall use that to roast your flesh toni-”
Then she let go.

They were like that in Halo 2; yeah, but they were nerfed in Halo 3, thank god.
DO. IT.
I would be so happy :>
I KNOW, that’s why brutes were my least liked part of the halo games. It was like each and every one was a mini raid boss and I was going in solo.
By the time the brute boss came along I had to sit there and wonder why this guy was so easy, tanked damage like nothing else…but so easy…was especially easy when you got a vehicle in there as well cause then you actually had a bit of firepower that actually did a little more damage then wet balls of tissue paper…
Armored brutes, well that would make sense. Still, that’s a damn lot of firepower to do nothing.
Just armored brutes, amazing I didn’t say that from the get go…
Some brutes on a spire thing connected to a bridge, believe it was a light variant.
Dual wielding the pistols I charged and shot one brute in the face a couple times while his buddy charged me, which after I ran out of ammo for the pistols, only served to piss him off as he decided for forgo his ranged weapon and just charge my face with his friend.
Personally made me hate the plasma pistol as it’s only use was to destroy shields and not do damage. Woo for situational weapon that can be replaced with such awesome weapons, as mentioned before, like the Rocket Launcher/Brute Shot/Shotfun, or my favorite, the Needler…but even that wasn’t really useful against brutes cause the needles just pinged right off the armored dudes. Only useful as a melee weapon against the brutes…and why would you melee them is beyond me, learned that one quick.
What kind of brutes were you fighting? I’ve never had that much difficulty with them.
We’re talking about a Brute here, not an Elite. Brutes did not use shields, or at least I do not remember seeing any as there was no visual indication. They wore armor, but that was about it.
Also try taking down a brute with just a plasma pistol, I did that. 5 charged shots to the head and the thing still charged at me. I guess it would vary on difficulty, there is only one difficulty, but only a few weapons were even remotely effective against them and that was like a rocket launcher or something…and even that still took like two rockets+.
Shame there was never a brute variant of the Plasma Pistol, that thing would of been awesome.
During every one if my co-op runs, practically the only gun we’ve used is the plasma pistol.
It’s the only gun we need. That thing is a beast.
You’re kidding, right? Blow their shield to shit with a charged shot then shoot them in the head, that’s what everyone does.
The only way I see this ending well is if the brute just laughs his ass off and Chief picks up the rifle, that is so within reach he could pick it up with his teeth if not for the helmet, and pops the bugger in the head.
Hmm, she kind of does. I was trying for angry without being too cartoony, but…
I leave that entirely to your interpretation =p
Are you implying that the back of her pants were burned off? cause if you are that’s pretty lewd! :o
I like it. :3c
Or they get another full blast off from the plasma pistol. That Brute ain’t long for this world.
@Cyborg_pony
Well, sort of. Not a lot left there, and Rarity’s going to be pissed when they get back.
I’m stealing that reaction image and you can’t stop me.
