It would be really nice if I had the option to “just take five” but commissions are literally the only thing keeping me from being evicted, so I really don’t have that option. I have to keep taking commissions and finish them quickly to stay afloat–occasionally the quality will suffer. I know it, and I lament it every time, but the stress of imminent eviction won’t let me do otherwise. Really, it’s all this same stress that has made me develop such an attitude. I started lashing out at stupid things as a way to vent stress–and I’ve long since apologized publicly about it and made distinct efforts to reel that back in. So your condemnation of me for it still smacks of an irrational grudge.
 
I’m sorry if I really can’t tolerate passive aggressive comments like “Remember, when Ambris was good?” on the quality of my work. But for someone who can’t tolerate my “assy” attitude, you really have got one yourself–I’m not sure that gives you much room to talk.
 
You’re also pretty unique in your perspective on my work. While there are specific images that just don’t have the same quality, for the most part, I note and improvement–as do others. Perhaps my style just isn’t to your taste anymore, but no one seems to agree with you that my style is objectively worse. So do us all a favor and stop asserting your subjective opinion as objective fact.
 
If you really need to keep talking about this, send me a PM. This really isn’t the place for it, and I’m going to ask a mod to delete this whole conversation.

Look, let me put it this way. Some time ago, I really, really liked your art. It started with the Mane 6 Height Chart. That shit was great, top notch. And hey, your style continued down the road. But somewhere down the road, you did more ranting than drawing, it was pious, it was haughty, and it was downright unbecoming. It wasn’t what I watched you for, and yes. I know. You made another blog for it- which only ended up meaning that it wasn’t a phase, it was something that was gonna’ keep happening. On one hand, you gave the option to filter it out, on the other hand, it also meant that I’d have to support some dude who’s views were just kinda’ assy.
 
But I thought, “At least his work is still aesthetically pleasing”, and then a while back there was some Applebloom and AJ image you did and I was like, “WHOA is that Ambris?” and I was honestly shocked. An artist who did basically the best takes on the mane 6 when anthro, seemed to take a nosedive.
 
And now I sort of see why. Shit’s gotten bad for you. But you know, if shit’s gotten so bad, or rough, and overall bogging you down to the point that what you do suffers for it, you need to take time to sort out what you’re dealing with and like, get the more important stuff out of the way, maybe sketch and doodle, and make some sort of trimuphant return to form along the way.
 
I may not agree with things you say or even really like you, but I know that I once really fucking loved your work. I’d like to fuckin’ love it again, but when intrinsic parts of a character are forgotten it’s really god damn hard.
 
You see my problem here, right? We have a mutual distaste thing goin’ on and I get that times are hard but dude if it’s that hard just like, take five, man. Or ten, or fifteen, take however damned long it takes to get things straight.
 
And yeah I get if what I’m saying here irritates or grates- I’m a fairly grating and or corrosive individual, no meditation, meds, or anything’s gonna’ fix that, I’m an ass and I’m fairly well aware of it. But like. There is some modicum of genuine concern here dude.
 
Get what you need to straight, maybe revisit this, I don’t know. I just want to love your art again. I’m only spending so much time on here to type this out because I give a rat’s ass. If I was just a troll, hater, or complete jackfuck, I’d just say “top kek lel faget” but I haven’t.

And I’m not sure what point it would prove. At most, it would just prove that I’m over sensitive, or that I can’t take criticism (but that would assume your criticism was worth taking). I thought your point was that my drawing sucked? Are you even sure what you’re trying to say?
 
I merely want you to be gone, as your less than helpful comments are cluttering up my images. No one likes a hater after all.

You know, I’m going to admit–this isn’t my best work.
 
I honestly did what I could on it, but was working with less than ideal circumstances. Between overwhelming college classes, my financial situation going down the drain and facing eviction, and to top it all, my grandma dieing recently despite desperate attempts to save her–My mental state has been frankly unstable; and both my attitude and my work have suffered from it at times. I’ve even publicly apologized for such.
 
So, I’d be more inclined to take all of your criticism seriously, if it wasn’t for this comment:

Okay, fine. For starters, the missing horn is downright offensive- I mean seriously? Forgetting THAT part of Twilight? No wings I get, no horn, inexcusable.
 
Ambris’ art style used to be aesthetically pleasing, but now the head looks like a blocky basketball with eyes drawn on it, and cheekbones the length of a baseball bat. The entire thing is very flat and the shading doesn’t vary at all, it looks like everything is made out of the same material- and I’m pretty sure this isn’t Warframe fanart so that won’t fly- correct me if I’m wrong.
 
After Ambris got uppity, his art got worse. I don’t know what happened but there was a severe quality drop. His work stopped looking like ponies, and started looking like poorly designed children’s book characters, except, with sexy stuff. Though the blah style cancels out any eroticism, leaving me only to find this as erotic as a coffee cup with a fucktorch jammed inside.
 
That actually sounds more erotic.
 
There was a time where I merely disliked Ambris, but liked his style. Now I dislike both, as his art has become just… Really bad. It all started looking exactly the same, flat, and horribly disfigured.
 
Maybe I’m just petty.
 
Or, maybe my time is better spent watching artists like Daxhie get better.
