To those who are wondering what people mean when they that Applebloom was evil in the newest comic, look no further than this picture.

Jealousy. Hmm.
Right?
99% of Yanderes, like Lola above, and textbook examples like Yuno Gasai, fall in love with their targets, and prefer to focus said target’s attention exclusively on them. If she were one, Apple Bloom would not allow Applejack to even be near her other friends, let alone Sunset, since the time she spends with them could be time spent with Apple Bloom, and if she were a Yandere, she’d rather AJ spend that time with her and no-one else. I’ll just quietly shift the incest implications to the side.
Furthermore, Apple Bloom here is remorseful in her actions and would have gotten violent in her attempts to make her plans work. Indeed, if she were a Yandere, Apple Bloom would have chosen the simple solution: murder Sunset Shimmer in cold blood. Either way, she wouldn’t apologize for it or fess up even if she wasn’t.
In the mind of a Yandere Apple Bloom, for the sake of her obsession, ANYTHING is justified.

Isn’t that what Applebloom is? Attached to Applejack with no sanity?
Yandere requires attachment beyond sanity. Case in point, Lola Bunny when first introduced in The Looney Tunes Show.

Well it would especially be between EqG1 and RR
Only problem is, it doesn’t work to well before it either, considering the CMC were actually still angry/scared of her too, like the other students.
Personally, the fact that this is set AFTER Rainbow Rocks is a serious fail on the writers’ part.
It would have had a place BEFORE RR and if they needed to place anything afterward, they could frame it as a flashback she was finally getting around to telling Princess Twilight about during the sleepover.
Sociopaths don’t just not have emotions, they can’t comprehend them.
Oh, Yan-chan?
Destructive Affection: ‘So they took my advice and tried to slander their senpai’s friends so she can notice them. Unfortunately they decided to apologize upfront. Makes sense. After all, unlike me, they actually have emotions.’
I know but I’m just saying that this was her first idea.
Ah.
But really, a decent human being probably wouldn’t consider doing anything like this anywhere on the alphabet.
I mean this shouldn’t have been her first idea to make Applejack spend time with her family.
What are you talking about?
“I really do think this story would not have had nearly as much flak if it hadn’t been by Ted Anderson (the most hated writer) and Tony Fleecs (the most hated artist).”
You know what they say about “assuming”, right?
You rely quite a bit on what is “implied”, but rather than rehashing what’s already been said, I’ll just point out that I think you’ve missed the mark on Sunset’s motivation. She wasn’t jealous of anyone, and she certainly didn’t entertain the petty spite that Applebloom did. She was ambitious, and popularity was a means, not an end. She discarded that tool sometime after her first year at CHS. By the time Twilight showed up, most of the school was merely intimidated by her. So no, her situation isn’t identical to that of AB and the others.
And I don’t care who wrote it, it’d be just as terrible any way you sliced it.
A bit late for that, don’t you think? Also I can assure you, I would have given it just as much flak, if it weren’t by Anderson.
I really do think this story would not have had nearly as much flak if it hadn’t been by Ted Anderson (the most hated writer) and Tony Fleecs (the most hated artist).
Also, to those correctly comparing this to “Ponyville Confidential”, the CMC got no formal punishment for what they did there. Sure they got shunned by the whole town, but were instantly forgiven when they ponied up to their crimes (pardon the pun). In this comic, they got detention for the rest of the year. Yeah, that’s a slap on the wrist compared to what they did, but it’s still more severe than the non-punishment they got in PC. Especially since it’s heavily implied they have to spend their spare time trying to scrub Anon-A-Miss from the internet. And aside from the Manes, it’s not clear that anyone else forgave them.
I mean, seriously, what would you have done to them? Expulsion? Sent them to juvie? What would that have accomplished? Or would you kick them out of their homes and make ‘em live on the street? At that point you’re worse than they ever were.
Do you know why Sunset was so quick to forgive them? Because she spent three years doing basically the exact same thing. Her end-goal was different (personal popularity) though her reasoning was similar (jealousy). In other words, Sunset gets it. She understands better than the Other 5 what went through the CMC’s heads. She probably also realizes that forgiving them is another step on the way to forgiving herself, which Rainbow Rocks showed quite clearly she is not yet able to do. Unfortunately, this is something Ted obviously missed; or if he didn’t, he should have worded it better.
You can dismiss me as “retreating into headcanon” or whatever as much as you like; I stand by my reasoning.
